The other problem you'll run into is that I'm willing to bet most dealers aren't getting spec boat with anything more than a 400. Maybe 440 if you're lucky. That means you'll never be able to demo one unless you find an owner with one already and they give you a ride. You'll never know if a 460 is overkill or not enough until you purchase your boat.

Or, I could probably find a 460, in a different hull, to demo, to at least see.. I’m pretty well an expert, on elevation problems, at this point!!

Sounds like there’s plenty of business for you guys up there! Not sure if it’s because we’re in drought so often, or what, but our dealership selection is terrible, for a similar sort of area.. we have one good dealership, the Sanger and Nautique guys, and they’re tiny. Sucks to have to drive to Sac, every time I need something done.

So I have learned a few things today. I have been super excited about this boat, and I still am, but am loosing steam now. We LOVE our boat now, but have been interested in a boat that is a little lighter overall and easier on my tow rig. If I could save a buck, even better. I've seen two build sheets with pricing now, and am a bit discouraged.
For starters, the ATX website says, "starting at $71750". In my mind I think MSRP. This is not the case. This is the actual dealer sales price. I did some checking around and on Tige's website some of the boats actually say MSRP and some don't. It goes either way around the industry as well. We are all used to seeing a price and then knowing we will actually pay 10-25% less than that. I guess they are changing that. So now be ready to see the base MSRP on your build sheet up A LOT. I was hoping for the base boat to be somewhere in the low to mid 60's and then add options. Moomba says the Max starts at $63,880, (doesn't say MSRP) for reference.
Speaking of options. I got on the website and built a boat the first day. The builder at the time had option prices. My options pricing came to about $13k. As best as I can recall I optioned this new build the same way and now the option pricing is $22k. Now this does include some trailer options that were not on the builders site at $3600. The biggest surprise to me was the engine upgrades. The price for the 400 over the 360 seemed very reasonable to me. But jumping to the 440 would cost me 4.5 times as much as the 400 upgrade cost! It's just a computer tune!!! I can only imagine the price for the 460 (computer tune and hard parts)----Zack, maybe your quote for $140k was right on. If I understand the build sheet right, the ballast system is included in the base price. The new TAPS 3T system is not included. Who's going to build a boat today and pass on the surf system? It is lower than a similar aftermarket system, but more than what I would have expected to pay for a factory add on. I love the idea of an 8 vent heater as long as they are spread around the boat pretty good. I thought the price for this was very fair. Actually most of the other options were right in line with what I would have guessed.
Like I said, we love our boat and it's going to take some doing to get us into another boat for a while. If the 400 motor works great then that will help bring the cost down and that would be fine with me. But in the end, it would be hard to go from an RZX to a ATX 22 "type S" (wait for the Acura lawsuit ) and have the same payment. I still can't wait to climb around it and give it a good look. I'd love to get it on the water and see the new surf system.
Those that have been in it, how close were you to hitting your head on the bimini as you got in/out of it?

I will say, they have done a really good job at making me wonder, on this boat. I’m sure as hell not going to be the first guy to jump on..
I’m literally thinking the exact same things as you.. I love everything about my boat, except the part where it underpowered. It would be worth starting over for 5 more years of warranty.. I doubt the ATX can touch my goofy wave, which is the side I ride, screw everyone on the regular side! I’d be super interested if I could get a 575, which doesn’t sound like it’s happening..
Hoping there’s one at my dealer, if I ever get my boat back.. curious to see someone’s price breakdown, whenever that may be... and happy to ride behind one, if I can work that out, somewhere!!

Got to see one in person last night. Well kind of. Never actually got inside of it. Here are a few pictures of items I did notice while waiting for my turn.
The transom really kicks back to form the transom seats. We really liked the seats back there, but it really reduces the usable size of the swim deck. Seems like we always have a million kids standing on ours. This would make it really crowed.

Speaking of the swim deck, it has a pretty nasty edge going around it. Hopefully it is fully out of the water when surfing or it will cut the wave pretty good I imagine.

The new actuators are full beef. As I understand it they are electric over hydraulic, which gives them their strength.

I was FAR more impressed with the tower once I saw it. I was dreading it at first in pictures. I could be very happy with it. It is yet to be seen if that bimini will take your head off as you get in or out of the cabin area. Looks like the tower could easily be moved forward several inches to help alleviate that potential problem. This is the only reason we passed on an FI23 once upon a time.

This is the step from the swim deck on to the engine cover. It also covers up the blower vents. The exposed metal edge will ruin someones day when their pinky toe hits it as they climb in.

The rear locker was huge. Looked very similar to the lockers in the Moomba Max. The salesman on duty said the bags fill the locker almost completely full once they are filled. The bag didn't look that big to me.

From what I saw I was impressed overall. Hopefully I will get an opportunity to really climb around it one day. We are still very interested in this new line.
Warning: One mans rant below. You don't have to read it.
Is there some kind of boat show etiquette? Perhaps some unwritten rules? There should be. My family drives 38 miles in rush hour traffic to get to the ATX party at Germaine. We walk in to the showroom where the new ATX is displayed right in the front. We just kind of stand there for a minute and look at it. I'm impressed. I notice the tower right away and really like it. My instant impression is, I like it. We see a couple in the boat talking with the salesman. As a family we all slowly walk around the boat patiently waiting for them to leave so we could climb in. We get to the back of the boat and my kids climb up the stairs and stand on the swim deck. I tell them not to go in the boat, that we need to wait our turn. So they just stand there. Five minutes or so go by and my youngest is getting grumpy. I pull out $20 and tell my oldest to take him out and get some food. Turns out the food was free! Thank you Germaine. (Never did get that $20 back.......) I continue to wait. I walk around the boat again. I walk up the stairs. I walk over to a nice ZX parked next door and look it over. I walk back to the ATX. I walk back up the stairs. I listen to the salesman talking about a test drive in Utah Lake (?!?!?!). You'll really be able to show off that wave in 3-4' deep water. He then talks about how great the 360 engine is with 360 HP. I had to butt in at that point and questioned what engine was in it. I said the 400 and he said the 360. I asked about the transmission and he said 2:1. I tuned out at that point, still standing on the swim deck. A little more time goes by and the sales man asks if I want to come in. I said I don't want to step on anyone's toes. The couple didn't get the hint as he just sat at the observers seat and she in the drivers seat. The two places I really wanted to be at. Could I ask them to move? Another minute goes by and I give up. I climb down the stairs, put my shoes on and round up my family. They were scattered looking at boats parked outside. I grab a bite to eat and we head for home. On the way out we drive by a blue/white/black ZX1 that is beautiful. I get the go ahead from everyone that we should buy it. We get out and look around it. Even climb in. Nice that it was empty. Overall we were there for exactly one hour. I waited no less than 30 minutes to get in that boat. I sure hope they buy it and enjoy their time on Utah lake where they'd be better off in a Yamaha.
