Has anyone had issues with the clamping board racks?

Hi all - I’ve had issues from time to time of my wakeboards coming loose or almost out of the clamping board racks. This happens more often when riding at higher speeds or in rougher waters. It’s almost like the clamping pressure isn’t quite strong enough (even when I pull it tight) to prevent the board for pulling up on the clamp arms.

Has anyone else seen this, or have a solution for it?

    Thanks

I’ve had a few isolated incidents of boards coming loose. One board came out and the fin just missed a buddies head. Vast majority of the time there is no issue at any speed or chop, but I do keep a close eye on them now. I think we just didn’t have the clamps tight enough those times.

Glad I’m not alone! Do you really wrench them down to get the last click? If you had 2 boards, do you find it’s any better to have both boards in the same clamp rack or one on each side? Thanks!

Usually only have one board in each rack as I only have two boards that I would put in racks. I feel like I could get one more click out of the ratchet, but I never go that tight.

Never had a problem with boards coming out, although only a couple of us move the boards in and out. I would rather get out of my chair and do it, then let someone lend that helping hand and not clamp it down. Transit speeds to a surf area never exceed 22 MPH, so I don't stress the system (plus I am not in a rush to burn more gas).

The only issue I have had with the racks is that one of the pivot bolts broke last year; dealer replaced. This year I noticed both sides were sloppy and I could see a couple of the screws (bolts) getting loose. Again the dealer, tightened and locktited the bolts; also since the pins are loose he ordered some replacements.

Surely I can do these repairs on my own, but not allowing the dealer to know of them and resolve doesn't help my case when and if the entire system fails down the road.

Yep. Had a surf board fly off and hit a girl in the mouth in the back seat. Bad situation....Not sure who was the last who locked it down but now it’s a priority to make sure it’s all tight till that last click. If it happens again I’ll be seriously thinking about another way to secure them.

Haven't had any major problems with mine, although most of the time they're just full or shorts and vests. But with boards just make sure they are clamped down super hard, also if you put traction up you will get a better grip. On my buddies boat we run the foil in the rack with no problems.
