Busting hoses while winterizing!

    You guys remove water from the tranny cooler? Where is that? Should I be doing that?
    I did! On my 06 It it on the starboard side of the engine, right below the alternator. Its inline of the raw water intake hose between the V-drive and impeller housing and has two oil cooler hoses running from the trans.

        I guess that is what I was reffering too. chpthril, how do you remove yours? Mine is a small bolt (7/16th) and is facing the bottom of the boat, it makes it really hard to unsrcrew. I cant even get a quarter turn on it.

          I just took one of the raw water hoses off and let the water run out. If mine has a drain plug I didn't even look for it

Then on the starboard side, I remove the knock sensor and remove that bolt and then the other blue plastic piece on that side.             Try just removing the easier of the two hoses and blowing the water out once you have removed the enginge plugs. The water will still flow out of the heater then out of the block.

                    I am a real idiot. Lee has all of the answers. It is always the rear hose that I can't get too very well, so I end up tearing it off (front of the engine).

                    I actually took a look at the engine the other day and can see where the water goes - from the through hull, to the tranny cooler and then around and up to the impeller. It is obvious the other place I need to drain to get the water out. I am beginning to think that antifreeze looks like a simpler solution.

                    I was looking around and found this in my bilge...What is it? Looks like a finger shredder. Just found it laying in the back of the boat.

                      Looks like a fiberglass cut-out from the exhaust. How thick is it??

                        It is a cover where a lower mounted starter would attach to the flywheel, Marine Power uses a top mounted starter. Good thing it fell off and not into the flywheel.

                          It is where the biflux capacitor triangulates with the dilithium crystals adjacent to the dipthong modulator.

                              It is a hole cove that was tack welded in place and the vibration broke it loose. There should not be a problem with out it but if you wanted to you could put it back some way.
