Need help calibrating PPS (sometimes called Throttle Position Sensor) BEI 9861R5KL2.0

    Guys,

I installed a new PPS this morning (BEI #9861R5KL2.0) as the next step in trying to solve my chronic Limp Mode Problem. Boat is 2006 24Ve.

    Two questions/problems:

    1. No matter how far down I push the sensor on the throttle, the voltage reading between Terminals 1 & 2 (Orange/Green) will not drop below 1.0V. I can push it down with a lot of force and get it down to about .93V but when I tighten the screws down to secure it, it settles at about 1.05V. It appears I just don't have enough adjustment available to push the sensor low enough on the throttle to get an idle reading of less than 1.0V.

    2. Pushed BEI sensor down as low as possible and tightened both screws. Checked voltage between Terminals 1 & 2 (Orange/Green). Ranges from 1.04V at idle to 3.94V at full throttle. Checked voltage between Terminals 4 & 5 (Blue/Black) and voltage ranges from 1.18V to 4.45V. Why the difference?

Thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming either of the 2 items listed below can cause this boat to go into Limp Mode so this may be my problem. Just not sure how to solve. Sensor is brand new (ordered from Allied).

Update - realized today that I could also calibrate PPS by twisting it on mounting bolts. Got terminals 1&2 (orange / green) in spec ranging from .98V at idle to 3.96V at full throttle. However, Terminals 4&5 (blue / black) are still reading about 0.2 volts higher. I don’t think this is right but I don’t know what to do about it. Any thoughts? Could I possibly have the wrong potentiometer?

You should be fine on 4&5. They are not critical like 1&2. 1&2 out of range will always bring the engine back to idle.
      Oh Yeah!

To clarify, Orange green and black blue are the wires to check? Looking at the schematic from the main DIY it looks like the white blue are A,B and Red Green are D,E

Looking at the schematic from the main DIY it looks like the white blue are A,B and Red Green are D,E I'm not sure what to calibrate here since the previous owner crossed the wires. Do I calibrate to the boat or the plug as far as blue and black
