So I got a text from my neighbor yesterday after leaving for work. He texted me at 10:30am...”dude, what did you do to your boat”. My reply..”what do you mean?” He replies back with this picture.
My reply “ WTF?” It was not like that when I left for work. So I got on my camera system which covers the boat. At 10:10am, the cam shows the boat sleeping peacefully with the window intact then skips to 10:15am and shows the window shattered. Now keep in mind the cameras are on motion detection and they are quite sensitive. I continue to view as much footage as I can and I see no one around the boat before or after those times...no kids playing, no one walking in either direction, nothing? It’s like the window just spontaneously shattered! There was nothing in the boat like a rock, brick, BB...nothing but glass.
Of course, we had it out the night before so I didn’t have the cover on it as I usually let it air out overnight. I’m really at a loss here. The only explanation I can come up with that makes the most sense is the window was facing the upcoming sun which may have heated the glass. Then maybe, just maybe the glass was under some tension. I know this is far fetched as I do have 5 min of unseen time but also knowing the cameras would have kicked on if they saw movement, I have to follow the old saying from Spock “Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
Anyway, it really doesn’t matter how it broke, all I know is that I need a new windshield. One is being packaged up at Tige for me now and hopefully will be on its way next week...at a price of course. Just thought I would share.
