I thought about speaker covers, but didn't think I would use them as I pull my speakers down and put them up before each use. Thought two sets of entity 1010's would be too much excess weight bouncing around while driving up and down the highway.

I used to pull my speakers down as well, but that gets old, real fast. Time is something I value, and taking 10 minutes here and there, several times a week, adds up-plus takes away from my riding time. I also don't want my Speakers being taken by some dork walking down the street too. So, I devised a system, that takes away that "crime of chance." I installed "I" hooks into the back of the (tower) Speakers and ran a steel cable (color matched of course) through the existing holes in the tower and the hooks, coupled with a lowpro lock. JB weld was then applied to each exposed Allen. I don't live in the ghetto, but yes, I can tell it was "tested" over the summer. I just hope the little bastion, took off his shoes before entering.
No security is 100%, but if you make it hard enough, you take a lot of the steam outta of the theif. My system "could be" compromised, but your going to need to bring tools, have a lot of time, and even more elbow grease. Theives are lazy.........

Completely agree with you on the theives are lazy!! I just don't want the extra weight banging around. It doesn't really take any extra time for me as I put them up while people are loading up the boat, and take them down while people are cleaning my boat. Boat gets cleaned everytime after being pulled out, and what not. I feel it's a good use of time, plus that way a theif walking buy doesn't see the speakers. Amps are still in the boat, but if they don't see the speakers they probably won't come looking for the amps! Not to meniton once I move my boat out to CA (2 weeks) it will be in my back yard, and I have two watch dogs, they won't hurt them, but they bark at anything that moves, and well, lets just say I have 10 friends right by my pillow that NO one can out run, as well as a 12 gauge

I have 4 amps and designed another locking mechanism for that compartment as well. Gotta have power for the tower.
Best of luck with the move back to the coast.

For my Amp compartment, I installed a "Stanley" keyed lock and clasp. You can get the lock at your local hardware store of choice. It's the lock that you shut the clasp and then turn the key to lock it. It's a tight little setup, that most people would never even notice.

It sounds awesome, but can't they get to the compartment through the bow seats as well? Even if they can, I am sure that it is one more obstacle to deal with getting back to the lazy thief theme.

It's going to very real tough to squeeze in through that route, and then have room to work your theiving magic.....

If a thief wants it, he's going to get it. I am sure many of us have learned that lesson with autos. Christmas time is the worse, thieves seem to congregate for mass five-finger discounts.

A lock will keep out most pilfering eyes and hands, but if someone knows it's in there, they are going to get it. The newest thing is just taking the whole boat, or car, or whatver posing as a repo or towing company.

Pretty much goes without saying. What I as an owner want to do, is try to eliminate "crimes of chance." You know, those kids walking down your street at 2 in the morning who happen upon unlocked car doors. Those kids. Your garage isn't safe, if a "true" bandit wants your rig. I'm not trying to stop them, that's what insurance is for.

Couldn't agree with you more Spharis!! Good thing my toys are under lock, key and you can't get the toys out without moving the vehichles in front of them, plus they are all paid for, so no repo man here!!

I will say that the locks keep the lazy thieves away, I agree.

Best bit of advice I can have is out of sight, out of mind!

                                Redlined,

I was totally stoked when I saw those covers. Some red billet on my Addictions would look really cool. But when I saw the price tag, my mouth dropped. It would likely be about $300 bones to cover my Addictions.

All of the leaves have already fallen off of the Money tree this year... I may have to wait.
