    Newbie, fluctuating voltage?

    Hi ya'll!

New to me 2012 Z1. Had it out last weekend and I am getting weird reading on voltage from batteries. Sometimes 12-13, sometimes 0, then back to 12-13 again. Checked both batteries and they both read 12V. I had them out to put in new ones, checked my reference photos and I believe all wires are hooked up right, clean and tight. one cranking and one deep cycle.

Anyone else every have this issue?

    Thanks!

12V on the new or old ones? I ask, because 12.0 is actually 75% depleted. Also, if this is with engine running, your alternator is not contributing.

So clarify if this is the old or new and engine off or engine running. And if this is the gauge reading or a diagnostic hand head volt meter?

Ah should have provided more info! My apologies.

All on new batteries, old ones I never checked. New ones were around 12.6V on hand held meter, testing the posts.

Ok symptoms is with the engine off and switch in accessory mode, I get the touch screen showing 0 volts and then sometimes 12ish volts. Sometimes it does this on crank battery, sometimes on house. Seems really random and will usually show correct by turning the key off and back on.

With engine running it moves between 12 and 14, back and forth as if it is charging on the touch screen.

I really only noticed it before with the key on, engine off because a warning comes up on the touch screen saying battery low. I click on it then it shows 0 volts. Turn key off, and back on, then it shows ~12 volts.
