    2014 Tige Z3 Speedometer problems

First surf session of the season was a bust yesterday. Set Perfect Pass to 11 mph, and when we took off, I noticed it felt like we were going a lot faster than 11 mph for sure. Turns out, via phone GPS we were going closer to 17 MPH.

Basically as I start to moving the Speedo was reading zero MPH until I got over 10-15 mph before it would register anything. The faster I go, the more accurate the speed, although always off.

Pulled the boat into the slip, lifted up the boat, and crawled under to check the paddle wheel. I noticed that while it's not completely stuck, it's definitely "sticky".

Haven't had a chance to do any other troubleshooting than that. Was going to maybe try spray some silicone lube or something up in there?

Any DIY tips for repair before I have to pull the boat out and take it to Eagle Marine?

Going to cross post this on Facebook for visibility.

See if the paddle wheel wobbles, if so, you will need to replace it. If no wobble and its sticky, you may be able to oil it to fix it. You can also pull the pin and clean the paddle wheel istelf.
    Oh Yeah!

Hi I’m having the same issue on my boat. Did you get it fixed? Where’s the paddle wheel?

I am having the same problem on my 2014 RZR, the speedometer on the touch display and manual needle are showing about 13-14 mph when the boat is actually pushing 30mph. Where is the paddle wheel located?

Underneath the boat near where prop shaft comes out of the hull

I'm getting speedometer reading failures from code reads from the engine plug. Did any of you replace your paddlewheel or triducer or transducer or whatever it's called? Hard job to DIY? I guess I need Tige to give me a call back on the part. Called them twice. Nothing. Not thrilled with parts in UT. I can't tell where that cable comes out by the dash. There are LOT of wires bundled up there!

Paddlewheel is speed only. Biducer is usually lake temp and depth. A triducer is lake temp, depth, and a paddlewheel for speed. Crawl under the boat and find where the the little round black plastic is sticking out. Then go back in the boat, open the floor and find where the component goes thru the hull. Follow that black insulated cord back from the component and there will be a rag with all the info you need to get an Airmar replacement.
