No Water Coming Out Exhaust Pipes - Impeller?

Went to start up the boat for the first time this season. Impeller wouldn't turn. S-Belt just squeakily slid around it. Put a new impeller in (old one looked fine) with some dish soap. Now spins fine. However, even though water is getting into the impeller housing, there is no water making it out the exhaust. Friend suspects I probably have a bad impeller housing which is causing not enough sucking/pumping power to get it through to the exhaust. Does this sound right? If I my housing is the problem, anyone try one of the repair kits (fitted stainless surface parts that sit over the existing brass end pieces) vs. buying a whole new housing?

Pull the exit hose off the impeller and see if anything comes out and how fast. That will let you know if your impeller housing is doing it’s job.

Oh yeah..I always buy new stuff. Saves time and money in the end. So if it is a bad pump..get a new assembly. They are not that expensive.

As it turns out, it wasn't getting enough water from the fake lake. If you have a fake lake with the hose attaching into the rubber plunger, apparently it matters what direction the hose connection is facing. For my boat, it needs to be positioned so it is shooting water in from the front direction of the boat. Makes sense since the intake would be designed to be getting water coming from the front. By chance this time, I happened to have the plunger secured to the intake with the hose connection side facing the rear. I am sure I missed some obvious fake lake instructions or common knowledge somewhere along the way. For once, a remedy that didn't cost me money....

Even better to redo your fake a lake so you don't have to crawl under the boat. Lots of ways to connect your hose directly inline as a "T" or others. This is all mine is. Remove the hose from the vdrive and connect this and good to go. Also, allows me to suck up the RV Antifreeze in the fall right out of a bucket.
