    Weekends off

What are everyones rules for weekends away from the boat? We have made a hard and fast rule about not skipping weekends for weddings or parties outside of immediate family weddings, as we only get 3 months a year in NY with the terrible weather.

We sure try to get out most every weekend in the short season we get as well.
I am always concerned that it might get to be a job rather than a luxury if we push too hard though.

Everyone I know, knows that it’s gotta be important for it to be in the summer. At times you just gotta make it work, we’ve brought our boat to family reunions, other sport trips and even work events lol.

Our weekends away from the boat are the weekends of Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. Oh and AirRace week. That particular 10 days is strictly no boating. Unless the first Sunday is epic weather. Then it might be considered.

You know that is a good point, but this summer is stressing me out for the opposite reason. We have missed all of may, which is typically a lot of clean up and prep time as my sister gets married next week so we had bachelor, bachelorette, shower, and now the wedding next weekend. Another one of my sisters now gets married in October and they are trying to plan a shower a weekend in august. I want to tell her Friday night, Sunday afternoon, or my wife and kids are not going. No one wants to sit outside on an 80 degree day and watch someone open coffee makers, dining sets, and toasters. Not that I will, but I certainly want to. I have not missed a boating weekend in the last 2 years since we got the boat. It is our family’s passion, and I am concerned we are going to make a trend starting to miss weekends for things.

Haha. That note has been floating around different Instagram sites for the last year.

I had one filled out for my employer...they responded with recognizable sign language.

Work gets me, some weekends, but we’ll work at midnight, when we can to be up at 7 to hit the lake. If we have an out of town wedding, we’ll bring the boat, and hit a lake we don’t know in that area. A buddy is coming to tahoe to get married next weekend, we’re all staying up there, and taking a couple of boats to take wedding party and family out on the lake, bar hopping and riding, if anyone is that tough. Have a baby shower in LA, gonna bring the boat, and hit a lake. Luckily the majority of our people love their weekends on the water as much as we do, so it’s usually pretty easy to end up on the water, one way or another. Also lucky there are probably 25 lakes in a 3 hour radius of us.

My general schedule is to try and get out once during the week mid afternoon and once on the weekend. It's getting harder and harder however as myself and friends all have kids and their sports schedule ruin everything.lol. I've been pretty lucky that most of my close friends either are in sales positions or own their own businesses so the text goes out in the morning and we all meet at my place to head for the lake around 2:30pm. The only other thing that gets me is my wife is a nurse so her shifts can get in the way and my youngest is 21 months old and naps from about noon to 2:30-3pm. That's the case this weekend so I won't get out unfortunately.

Life is short and so is boat season. Pretty sure the best way to look at this is to find a healthy balance.

The best things in life are not things there people. Think about your best boating weekends... was it the boat or the people on the boat that made it so much fun?

Either way enjoy the season and the other stuff if you can.

Usually, we either go on a holiday or spend time with our family. Recently, we were at a wedding, and one of the guests gave the newlyweds a baby shower games. It seemed strange to give such gifts to newlyweds, but I read that children are crazy about these games. So, I decided to buy baby shower games for my children and what do you think. We spent the whole weekend playing this game. It was funny because children experienced many emotions, and there is nothing funnier in this world than children's emotions. So, now we have a tradition, every weekend, to buy baby shower games and play in them.

Living on the lake now full time allows for any day boat rides! This leaves weekends for the motorcycle, flying and scuba diving...trips!

Dont tell me you only have one VISE!
