Blade Lighting in 2018 ZQ add on

    All,

I just had dealer install blade lighting in 2018 Z1. Unfortunately, I thought they would work with my Tige Clear Touch screen but they do not, only with the Wetsounds external remote (yes I enabled RGB lighting on the Tige Clear Touch) and no, they still don't work with it. I spoke with Justin via email, sounds like CAN BUS didn't come out till 2019 models so to make a long story short, I can only use the remote to control the LED lights. This leads me to two questions:
    1. Can I still have the ability to turn them on and off via the Clear Touch screen? ( I ask because Justin hinted at this but I haven't been able to catch him since).
    2. Is there any workaround so that I can control the LED's from the touch screen?

I am not a fan of using an external remote, was really wanting to be able to control this from the touch screen...

Thank you in advance for any support you can provide!

(Title should read "Blade Lighting in 2018 Z1 Add On" Damn Spell Check!

I really hate that I need a remote for my rgb's as well. Anything from the factory should run off the screen. Period.

If you don't mind running the tower dome light at the same time, I would wire the blades with it. Then the blades would match the dome light and, I think, look pretty good.

That's one idea.... I will ask about that.

The 2017 and older boats need a separate control the late 2018 I believe have it into the courtesy lights and the 2019 screen has it into a designated Rgb in the touchscreen I can’t recall if it was the courtesy lights or the auxiliary on the touchscreen for 18

Maybe I am tripping but I feel like if you turn on the blades with the remote then just use the touch screen the lights go on an off ya?? Or do you still have to power up the controller every time??

Yep... your tripping... They don't work with the screen, tried all kinds of different scenarios. Interesting though, they do change with the rythem of the music so there must be some connection correct? Wish I understood how all this stuff works, I like to geek out with this stuff!

The blade light will only work with the OEM installed Wet Sounds RGB Music controller for 2 reasons. 1) the installer wired then to the existing controller and 2) the hardware is not int he 2018 to install the CAN integrated RGB controller. Your helm control system, will only turn on and off the RGB controller, but not control the light modes.

This was the latest info I had, so things can always change. I was told that even though the screen showed what looks like RGB LED control, it was not yet activated. With that said, the CAN RGB controller has existed for a couple years now, so thats not the speed hump, but the CAN integration in the Murphy.

Yes. This is what I found. T2 will turn the wetsounds controller on and off which will then come on with the settings you last had it set to but won’t control the RGB colors. Wasn’t a huge deal for me. Wiring them to the speaker button was easy. I also wired the tower light to tower, mood to mood, etc.

What if you upgrade the Clear software will that help you?

Controller Area Network. Communication line, like Ethernet.

Is the CAN what enables the running color capability?

No, the CAN is the communication line between the RGB controller and touch screen. So you need both hardware and software to make it happen, then install the new RGB controller in place of the standard music controller used.

                            Mikes,

I would be happy if the touch screen would just turn them on and off. But as of now, it does not. How do I get the touch screen to turn them on and off. Please walk me through it as if I am stupid, that seems to help. : )

For people wanting to update their 17 and 18 10.6 screens you need a CAN driven rgb controller and update to 2019 software. Not really too difficult but can be based on how the tower speakers and blade lights are wired. If they are wired separate, its easy. If not, it could take a rewire of the tower. This is why if you retrofit blade lights to a 17-18, they will go with the controller with the remote.
                              Oh Yeah!
