    Is this teak?

Hey guys. I found instructions on refinishing a teak swim deck but I am not sure if mine is teak or not. Can anyone help identify?

Sure is. Teak in need of some serious loving! Check out star brite teak sealer, it is more resilient to the elements than the traditional teak oil. I did a buddies last year with it and came out great! Don’t sand it past an 80 or 120 grit tops or it starts to get slick when wet.

What year boat? In the late 2000's Tige was using a teak cousin material. Id still call it teak as it looks, feels and finishes like teak. Not like its Poplar.

Your platform was made by Skiview and they were using Iroko wood and calling it teak wood.

LOL, Moneypity lost his marbles over the iroko wood.

So just to clarify, I can refinish it in the same way we would teak?

I second the iroko wood. I’ve had teak on other boats, that’s not teak. I have the same deck on my ‘04 22v. I think how you treat it is based on how you use it. If it’s trailer sailored and stored out of water than a quick monthly application of teak oil will treat you well. If you’re storing it in a wet slip the oil won’t last. Better to use “tropical teak sealer” which is almost more of a paint but it lasts an entire season.

It is definitely Iroko wood which is a teak substitute. I found out years ago that our 24v did not have teak.
