    Tower powder coating coming off

I am looking at buying a 2005 24V and noticed that the silver powder coating on the tower was flaking off in large pieces. Is this a comman problem with powder coated factory Tige towers?

If it is a Metcraft tower, Yes.

I don't know the manufacturer, just that it is the comman tower found on the 2005 and 2006 24V's. It has the Tige logo on each of the side supports. Any ideas on what to do when this happens?

Negotiate a lower price for the boat and put a new tower on it from xplosiontower.com or get an awesome tower from TigeMatt. For my 2300 V, I went with the Xplosion.

I have the Tige' tower and yes the powder coat is chipping off! It looks crappy.

I talked to Tige' and the dealership and both sad too bad so sad!

I have the factory tige tower and the paint is chipping at the port side hinge point from dropping the tower to get it inside the storage unit. It looks terrible.

              Mine has not chipped...yet!

Maybe you should buy mine instead!

As soon as Tige tells me where in the %$#@! I can pull a tuber from on the RZ2 I will be ordering one.

Can you expound on that comment, please?
Is there no lower mount on the new boat?

Sorry, I can see where it didn't make sense.

If I can get someone to buy my current boat with its non-chipped tower, then I could buy a new boat. I want an RZ2 but am discouraged that there is no proper place to pull a tube on that boat.

If you have to pull a tube, why not from the tower? Can't be much different than a 350lb. boarder.

                        Andrew,

You mean the pylon that says not to pull more than one skier on it?
The pylon that is bolted into the reinforced fiberglass?
The pylon that I have personally seen get gel coat cracks from too much stress?

Some tubes, under just the right circumstances, will dive under water and put an enormous strain on the tow point. I have felt my boat nearly come to a stop when the tube does that.

If I can get it in writing that I have 3 years of repairs on the ski pylon for free with no questions asked, I will put my boat for sale and seriously look at ordering the RZ2 tomorrow. It is my biggest hangup on the boat.

My powder coating on the front arm was flaking on my Metcraft. They sent out a new arm. This was when the boat was only a month old though.
                          Let it be!!!
