Have you tried a different device with USB to see if it works with the touchscreen. Hate to break it to you but it might be time for a new iPod

Hey where did you find that Creedence cassette? That was stolen along with my 72 Pinto station wagon with a Realistic tape deck. LOL

Have not tried other devices in the usb, but looks like it is time for a new phone or ipod upgrade if not both.

Damn you technology...how and when did I become the old guy?

My dad's favorite group was the eagles. He and I were doing the dishes one night when I was young. Listening to the radio, the DJ asked a super obscure Eagles question to which he knew the answer to. He got real excited and started dialing to be caller 10 with the answer. Turns out no one knew the answer as he was caller #1, 2, 3... all the way to caller #10. Of course he got the answer right and then he and the DJ joked about him calling all 10 times. Then the DJ played Hotel California and for my dad, the world was right. He loved it. I can't say I love the group, but find myself playing them often. Maybe mostly as way to remember my dad.

But feel free to hate on!

              Update on Z1 connectivity...
I ended up getting a iPod 6s since that was working for Bamer, loaded music into it since that worked for him and NHarp 1, and out to the boat I went.

So the iphone's bluetooth connected immediately and through the touch screen you can play, pause, skip fwd or back.

With iphone connected to helm usb...music shows right up on touch screen with multiple user controlled options. Shuffle all songs, genre, albums, playlist or whatever configuration works best for you. This is the scenario I was looking for.

Thanks everyone for help and advice with this issue.
