Swim Step Mod Question on 24V..

So we have had our 24V a whole 2 weeks now and I am mod crazy.. A short background.. This is our 3rd Tige, 90's 2000slm, 99 22I, and now the 24V. In that span we have owned almost all of the major brands but Mastercraft & Nautique. Our last boat was an Enzo that was set up for primarly goofy surfing (reversed rotation V-Drive, sacked out, a great darkside!!). My whole family is goofy So.. I am now setting up this 24V to be better than the Enzo that we so loved. I have been stealing a bunch of ideas from Duffy, but I am looking to raise my swim platform as aposed to cut it down (Or maybe a bit of both) My thought process is this: by raising it it actually brings it back because of the angle of the trasom, essentially shortening it and making it a bit easier to get in the boat. However, I havent seen anyone else do this so it makes me wonder.. Why?? Is it possible? My hope is to raise it with bracket extensions or all together new brackets by about 4" which should also move it back 3-4".

Any thoughts, or input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Tom

24v is a great surf hull and sounds like you are chasing that surf dragon/unicorn on a 24v dream. Totally doable. Quick questions before platform mods would be.....What's current ballast and prop?? What engine platform is your 24v(a lot that ive seen are MP 340s and 360s but to me the unicorn is PCM zr6).
I think the boats that benefited most from platform mods were RZ2s and RZ4s but I guess some guys were moding 24v platforms and I "missed the boat".
Theres a guy a while back that modded his platform and instead of cutting down the platform just had it cut out of a thick piece of steel (believe it was 3/8") and powder coated it and put some custom Gatorstep/seadeck on it. Lots of ballast in the right place.
Cant remeber if its duffy or someone else, but there's a 24v in Spokane that I want....I bet it his thread you are looking at. Either way 24v hulls can crush it for surfing, but you have to decide between a hard lean or putting some kind of shaper/surf system on it. Dakota4ce had a leaned out 24v that killed it too.
Lots of folks around here chasing surf dragons that can help so good luck.

Thanks brother, I should have explained. It has the 6.0 380 in it, enzo bags #1400 each locker (None in the front yet but planning to) We listed the **** out of our Enzo where many people would freak out thinking it was sinking.. I would like to use the Nauti curl I have and just sink it. As to the prop, I am not sure but when we weighted the **** out of it I couldn't get it above 9-10 mph.. So I know I need to get a prop. Next will be FAE.

I have a 2009 24ve so a little different but as the hull goes I’m pretty sure it’s the same. I have gutted my lockers and put Enzo sacs in them last year as well as a bag up front and I use a device similar to the nauticurl. My swim platform doesn’t seem to affect my wave at all and it could even help smooth it out. We run the 1235 prop and it works great for us. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions

Tombugg, where are you located?? Elevation is real. We would run a 2079 on that if you were up high with big weight and a crew. The 2419 may be worth considering but I have zero experience with the MP 6.0l gm coupled to that ZF vdrive(is just my go to with the Raptor). Jetdriver is smart cat that I think has played with the 2419 on a similar powertrain. The 1235 is a great all around prop that kills it. Curious to find out whats on the shaft now. Wouldn't be shocked to find out its a 537 as its a common wheel that doesnt push big weight .

The swim deck on the 24v is at a pretty good height, when you weight it down heavily a raised deck would still be in the wave. Raising it would make it difficult to get in and out of the boat when not weighted for surfing. I would just cut it down, any reason you want a monster swim deck? The swim deck looks more modern cut down. I believe Tige copied my design on the swim deck shape and design.

The goofy wave on my 24v is bonkers, night and day better then the regular side. It's like a wall. I have thought many of a time to reverse my prop rotation just to get that wave on the regular side.

The 24ve hull is similar but not the same, we actually surf both regularly.

              My surf setup.

Bow- 200-300lbs of lead, dual front surf sacks. They are 450lb sacks, but they don't fill that much. I would guess 1/2 of the 450s. So maybe a total of 500 in water and 200 in lead most days.
Surf side- Full custom 1850s. I make sure every possible ounce is in the sac
Off side. Custom 50-75% full. I basic dump it till the wave cleans up.
Taps- 2-4 depending on wave, people on board and skill levels. Taps down helps calm the monster wave and doesn't scare people.
Speed 11.2 at a minimum unless we have less weight in the boat. Most of the time we surf 11.7-12.5
Nauticurl at the lowest furthest point possible.

Must have mods for a 24v. FAE, surf flap and swim deck mod. Then a ton of ballast. I surf at a higher elevation and I have a custom 5 blade prop that I helped design with ACME. I call it the stump puller. If I have a crew of 3-6 the wave is about perfect. After 6 adults I have to start pulling water out and moving people, so it's tough to find the "perfect" wave.

I hope this helps. Congrats on the 24v. You will love the wave.

Thanks Duff! FAE orderd, Planning the Swim deck / flap mods now.
I have the enzo sacs (Which I believe are 1450#) Did you get your front 450's & rear 1800's from Wakemakers? If so would you mind share the demensions?

I have the dimensions in my build thread. It’s on my signature. I bought the sacs a long time ago from a vendor that isn’t around anymore.

Duffy, do you have a picture of your deck? I did the flap, but the deck drags in the wake. Nauticurl made a tremendous difference as well. Gives me something else to do while I wait to put in the new motor. Sorry for the hijack.
