    2006 24v steering cable

Looking for factory size steering cable and where to purchase it for a 2006 24v. Any comments on replacing cable would be helpful. Cable on now is a ssc13422,but I believe there is enough slack to possibly go with a 21 ft. cable. Cable is located on top and along side of gas tank now.

You want the 22, I have a 22Ve and used a 21’ with not a lot of slack left. I ran it a little different than normal though because of a custom subwoofer. If not for that I could have made a 20 work but it would’ve been kinda tight.
The Teleflex TFXtreme cable is the one you should get. Supposedly an improvement over past models and the reviews are good. My boat steers like butter now.
    I bought mine here...

Dont go shorter then then whats there, been there, done that. Had a stereo custom leave out after getting a new custom enclosure and woofer under his helm with a new facade, along with perfect pass installed and some other work, go right to the boat mechanic after, for a steering cable. Had I known this prior, I would have told him to have that work done first. Anywho, new steering cable was a foot shorter at least. Purring the brand new custom box box under the helm forced a bend in it so tight, the steering was stiffer then the before. Also, the PP didnt work and gauge lights were out.

Brought boat back to me. Found box left unsecured, facade half@$$ed screw down. Pulled out and realized steering cable was in the way. Called customer to ask, told me yeah, just replaced.

Payed me for new correct cable to replace new wrong cable, labor to replace new wrong cable, plus time to fix the other issues created by the domino effect.

When I did mine I took it out. Can’t imagine doing it without removal but I am sure someone has. Not a difficult job. I made sure to connect the new one to the old one with string and tape to help snake it through.

                  took about an hour.

Takes about 10 minutes to remove the floor section. Will make it much easier to make that turn through the floor.

Did it today removed the center seat section and the floor. I believe it was the factory cable cause the jack@$$ that put it in wrapped it with electrical tape about 30 wraps around the 1 1/8 nut
