Help. 07 24ve ballast problem.

Hi all,

I’m going to look at a 24ve this weekend to possibly buy. The owner says the stock rear ballast system was working last summer but the last time he showed the boat the prospective buyer ran both fill pumps at the same time and now the port side fill isn’t working.( the drain pump still works)

So here’s my question: in the stock system can you run both fill pumps at the same time? Is there any reason running both or all three fill pumps together is a problem?

Also, if one fill pump stopped working it’s most likely the pump failing or a fuse or breaker tripping right?

Anyone have the manual or know how that system operates and what I should look for? I’m assuming replacing a fill pump is pretty straight forward. Thanks!

Yes u can run all pumps at the same time with no issues. Likey just a dead pump. If that tanks drain pump works, it's not a fuse/breaker but could still be switch. Still likely the pump.

I would not let this worry me.

Sounds good. What sort of custom stuff? Wake gates and such?

My only concern with that story is that the owner has grossly misunderstood what caused the problem, and doesn't seem real mechanically inclined. If that same guy did all the maintenance, I would get a professional inspection.

Some people call the ballast system from those years, 'stock' but it was actually installed aftermarket, maybe even at the dealership. I just thought I would mention that it may not be the factory system at all.

So the system is two rear hard tanks and a front bag. Is that not the factory/stock system? Good point on the not understanding how it works. He has all his maintenance done at a shop or dealer so that’s at least reassuring.

Sounds stock. Are the hart tanks across the transom, behind the walls?
