    2007 20i Wake surf & opinions please.

    Hey all,

Im new to the forum so firstly hi!

I have had a look around the forum and others and couldn't find any clear answers so thought I would post.

A Tige 20i 2007 has come up for sale in my price range with most of the things I am looking for in a boat. I am wondering if anyone has used it to wakesurf? If so how good was it and do you have any photos or videos?

I am located in the UK and there are very few boats around at the moment which is making it hard to find and I stumbled across a tige that looks great.

Ideally we would love a V drive boat but that would double my budget as they are really rare here. We mainly wakeskate, wake surf, wakeboard and occasionally barefoot/ski. So I know loads of people will say go v drive but it is just unaffordable for me at the moment. The 20i seems like a good boat and the draft on the hull is deeper than many other boats that I have looked at, it is also alot heavier than other boats.

I would love to hear your opinions on it.

    Thanks

    Martin

Runs on LPG huh? Is that common over there? Never heard of it being used here.

Yeah lpg is really common here most docks at wakeboard boat lakes only have lpg. It’s necause a gallon of gas/petrol costs in the region of 8/9 dollars. Lpg is half the cost so very popular. Takes a day on the water from $200 down to $100.

looks like it's sitting uncovered in the rain.

Well it is England. If you covered it up every time it rained, you wouldn't get out much.

It only helps you a tiny bit, but I have gone out on a direct drive Nautique ski boat a good number of times. The owner's number 1 priority is the ski capability, but surprisingly, he's made a pretty good surf wave out of it. With 1 750 sack on each side of the engine and another behind the engine, the wave is long, and has a great shape. It is not like a modern surf boat, but it is really a fun wave, and easy to go without a rope, plenty of push. So it wouldn't surprise me if you can make a good surf wave, but it may take lots of ballast.

I wouldn't want to drive it on a busy/rough day at the lake with all that ballast for fear of taking waves over the side or back due to other surf boats, but after our morning ski it was really great to do a surf session.
              Be excellent to one another.

                Thanks for the replys

In the Uk it pretty much rains all the time so the cover off for a bit makes no real difference. We pretty much ride 5mm suits all year round lol!

I’ve seen a video online of a guy loading exactly the same boat up and making a great wave! So I think I will go view, seems like a lot of boat for the money compared to nautiques and mc!

If that’s what in your price range and you can’t find a used v drive it’s all about smiles on the water so I’d go for it.

For surfing add a couple bags on the floor and a surf gate and you might be able to make it work. Maybe see if you can demo it first just to be sure.

Check to see if the TAPs is working(trim tab at the transom), and if doing a water test make sure the speedset is working. Otherthings to inspect for its age is shaft seal while on the water. I didnt see hours in the listing either, so would definitely be curious how many hours it has on it.
Just a few of the things I would be checking if you get serious on it.

Where do they put the LPG? Has the old gas tank been removed? I am just curious how that conversion works as far as being able to put a big propane tank in there somewhere.

It has 800 hrs on it, I think lpg tank is in the ski locker but not sure, I believe the petrol tank is still there although most conversions pull it out.

Guys thanks so much for the advice so far so helpful!

I’m going to go have a look when I can and see if I can do a deal (boats been for sale for 3/4 months and middle of winter)

Anything else to look out for?
