    2001 Tige 22i riders edition

I have been all over the map on buying a boat but have finally settled on a 2001 22i riders edition. Does not have PP or ballast but does have a new motor with 30 hrs on it. Owner wants $17,500. I have to get used to the fact that with what new ones cost the older ones hold their value a little better now. Interior and fiberglass are in good shape. Wanting some opinions if this is reasonable or if their are better prices out there.

What water sports do you plan to do with the boat? What is your normal crew size? That price is a little High IMO for an "I" what tower? Do you have Pics? Is it your first direct drive? If it is super clean It could be worth that I guess. This is all MOP. They sell around me for less. It is good low hours but is it all new? (long block) Just a short block? This is a V drive and a couple Years newer for a couple of K more. Not mine by the way or anyone I know. just a quick search.

I have skied behind many growing up but my first in owning one. Probably do more skiing than wakeboarding and very little if no surfing. I did fail to ask what brand of tower as I just assumed it was a factory one. Probably have 4 to 6 in the boat most times. I did see the one you put in the link.

Old metcraft tower. Be prepared to replace it.
        Oh Yeah!

Thank you for the tower info. I did not know about that tower.

As far as the model, I think that you are on target. The 22i is not a tournament boat but definitely gets close. I got my 05 22i and brand new trailer for under $20,000; the dealer had it on consignment and the previous owner wanted it gone.

My only concern is why was the engine replaced?

Kinda what I am thinking.05 under 20k I get. 2001 would think under 15ish unless it is loaded new tower PP some bags.and a toss over pump. or something. unless it is super clean. bad a$$ stereo something. Again just my 2 cense. but you did ask. The new motor is good if they did a long block. You still have the regular hours on the the other stuff. Not that, that stuff is expensive, but don't think new motor= no problems .starter, alternator, distributor, EFI, probably all old. add heads if it was a short block. It is a good looking boat looks just like mine. On the outside. Don't get me wrong I think it looks like a great boat.I think it will do skiing like nobodies business. it is a great fit for your crew size and what you want to use it for. You must determine the budget.

The 22i (G letter designator in the hull ID) is a very underrated, all around boat. You can get it to surf and create a really nice wakeboard wake. Remember this hull is a V hull. It was an extended version of the 21v hull.
                Oh Yeah!

I have a 2000 22i original owner. Still going strong, great boat.

Is it just me, or does the boat not look like it fits on that trailer? See how it slopes upward?

The tower will break eventually, but if you hardly ever use it, it should hold up better. It breaks underneath the pads sometimes, so don't forget to look underneath the pads when you check it out.
                    Be excellent to one another.
