The 12ga was insulated and the 4wire rgb was insulated I believe 22ga... I heat shrunk them together to make running them a little easier... I basically have it all the way through.. I had to use a little silicon spray. I have the tower separated from the hull and if I can grab it from the tower I will be able to get it through.

And just for those curious.. some old threads on here state that the e tower bolt on the rear port side (where the tower speaker wires are run) has a nut and brace that is glasses into the hull.. for the record mine was not and was a two person job.. it will be slightly more difficult to get it back on. A few extensions took care of it.

So I cant tell for sure but it looks like you ran a pair of RGB wire. You technically dont need an independent strand for each RGB. You could run one strand of 4 wire up the leg, terminate it inside the port can then run another strand over to the other can thru the arch. Would get rid of a whole insulated 4 wire strand...not ideal since you already heat shrinked.
Could also take the insulation off the 4 wire wire pair if you got desperate as all 4 wires inside are insulated.

Ahh good idea!! I can’t believe I wasted all that rgb wire... damn... oh well

I will give a heads up tomorrow evening if I am able to get it through or not..

Id bet that someone boogered the threads at some point and sourced a longer bolt and used a nut. Tige did glass in an aluminum plate that was threaded for the bolt. Pro-80's where not factory, so the boat at least had some aftermarket tower stereo work at some point.

Chp- there was a plate, the wire was for sure not factory.. I didn’t even take a picture it was so bad. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone else with an old boat like mine.

After battling I am going to have to give in... it looks like 14awg will be going in the tower and throughout the boat...

Bummer. At least you have a line fished thru the tower

On a side note I am headed down to Atlanta on Sunday. Hoping to catch the boat show! I’d love to see the new ZX1 and ZX5. It could cause me to finish up this boat and get rid of it! Always thought my next boat would be a G but I have been loving the zx1 from what I have seen. I would really like to see a zx3.

I don't know this tower at all, but is it not possible to drill out that hole a bit bigger to get both sets of wires in? Or if it's close, get rid of that shrinkwrap. It wasn't necessary to begin with and will just frustrate you more if you have wire issues down the road.

What about running the wires down both towers legs to split things up?

This is how I did mine on my old E series. you can see on the far leg the wires jumping through with a connector to unplug when the tower would fold down. Hope this helps.

The gray wires in the pics are not hooked up to anything at the time of the photo. They would become my tower speakers later on down the road and get a similar connector.

I was able to get some more done on the boat. Rev10s and rgb are wired and good to go. Transom remote is in. Helm remote is in.

Batteries are in place and ready.

                              Did a few more things

Still have a ton of clean up to do but I’m making progress.

My plan is to get everything wired up correctly with everything I have done. Make sure it all works as it should and then I will install my ballast system.

impressive. i had this exact boat in blue before we upgraded to R23 last year. loved it, puts out a great wave when properly ballasted. also, glad you're using the right tools, lol
