Years ago when I was down in Florida on any of the lakes pretty much every house has a tourney boat of some kind and a pontoon boat. You have the play boat and the party boat.

Really interested in how this surf wave works. I watched the video, but it didn't show much. A pontoon has 2 or 3 hulls really, so what happens with the water running down between the logs?

Shows a picture in the link above. Looks to be a pontoon-less pontoon boat that has a full hull.

              that was awesome!!
We've said a couple times need a friend to get the party barge so we can have the best of both worlds.

I think it might be closed off im between toons. Weve always talked about having running surface across the entire beam in the back half of the toon and having an angle that comes all the way up to the deck and meets with an aluminum underskin(to keep water away from wood deck and help planing).
Regardless Id say its not toons in the rear because even the largest toons on the market are 36". They are advertising the PCM engines at 409, whicj in the past was the 6.0L GM platform. Not really current on PCM these days as they are Nautique/Centurion/Supreme, but I know people are all about the 6.2 DI they are putting out.
Regardless, I doubt either package would ever fit in a single toon so theres something going on under the deck in the rear end.
PCM does do a GM 5.3L configuration, but I dont see it pushing this barge at the stated weight/length...

Almost has an older deck boat look to it. Be interesting to see some more on it.

I don't care how beautiful you are, or if it is a Pontoon...TAKE OFF YOUR DAMN SHOES! She could even take off more than her shoes...just saying

If you read through it, you will see that this is a Mark Overbye project. He is the founder of Gekko Ski Boats. He has alot of connections in the industry over the years. It sounds like they have a deal with PCM, this will be an inboard (v-drive?) toon.

Last I knew, after Mark got Gekko back he tried to revive it and then was acquired by Floe International. They had been known for their docks, but they wanted Mark to help launch their boat line, which started with the Afina

Mark was working the Floe Afina booth last year at the Minneapolis boat show. This is your real party barge.

Thanks for dropping the knowledge Dandy. Funny thing, is this is the second time Ive bumped into a FLOE product. recently. Not sure if youve seen these but here comes another entrant to the wake segment

interesting history that gekko is now dead and varatti is up. no coincidence there.

looking at the varatti, couple call outs..
steering wheel is the same smart wheel that tige is using.
says 9 patents on the surf system. hard to tell but looks like it could be close to nss? either way not sure I would call it innovative with a hydraulic tab.
5000lb dry weight and 2400lbs of ballast and the options are mercruiser 320hp and 370hp. props make a big difference but seems light for a boat of that weight in today's surf-centric world?

playacraft has had a v8 powered tooner for some time so wonder how close the design is to that boat?

Before Gekko was closed/acquired they were working on a boat that was going to be called the Komodo. The teasers and info that I had gotten from Mark, indicated it was going to be a wide bow or pickle fork and the big integrated Gekko platform was going away. Mark had begun work on the designs and the molds. I am fairly certain that this boat is what would have been the Gekko Komodo.

That varratti is interesting. It’s bow is as low as my 98 DD. And the hull looks really similar too IMO.
Surf pontoon would be great if it actually works. Maybe now I can convince friends to get a pontoon, you know for the great surf wave, and less important aspect of being the party barge. Lol.
