    Any wakefoilers out there?!?

First time poster, long time stalker..... I’m getting into wake foiling behind my 01 21i, (taps out of commission but should be fixed over the winter) I don’t weight my boat down (because you don’t need too) and I’ve experimented with a 60’ wake rope and and. 30 ‘ surf rope.... any body else out there wake foiling?

What set up are ya’ll using and any tips for a beginner? I can get up an foil pretty well but no tricks and I’m still too green to cut back across the wake.

Currently using a slingshot wakefoil on the 24” mast set at 5

Got a few videos but not sure how to post yet from iPhone...

where ya located. there were a couple of really good foilers that rode the fox river in Wisconsin when I lived there. they rode using a moomba directdrive with no ballast. fun to watch for sure...
if you're in Wi could get ya some info from them.

I am interested to see how this sport grows. Looks like fun; minus the expense of the equipment!

Definitely not cheap, but i weighed the cost and work it would take to get bags and weigh down my boat which is an older direct drive with no ballast (and limited space already) for things like surfing or wake boarding and went this route. So far its worth it, the foil is definitely a conversation piece when people see you ride it, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my area... seen some air chairs but they are old news haha

Pretty cool to see, I'll work on posting a video.. just got to figure out how

I think it’s funny when someone says foiling is expensive. Let’s see...any ol boat with perfect pass and a $1500 foil....done. Surfing..$85k boat that won’t surf out of the box. $800 in lead. A $300 let’s try surfing board. A $500 hey this is fun board, and then an $800 custom board that warps from the heat on day 2 at Powell. Then you get wave envy, sell your $80k boat and get a $125k boat. Suddenly your $30k truck can’t pull it so you get a $65k diesel truck. And then there is the whole you had better have a tall garage issue. Did I mention it uses more gas to push a 10,000 pound boat with flappers around?

Foiling is where it’s at. I’ve been on the sky ski for 8 years and it’s sooo much fun. Once I’m back from Germany, wake foil is #1 wake toy on my list....unless of course I can foil at one of the cable parks.

            Anywho...just my opinion.

I thought it was fun to watch for about 30 seconds. So you can cruise around, and sort of surf the wave, and cruise around. Then maybe pump some to catch a wave and cruise around some more. You can barely jump and cannot spin. Maybe someone needs to post up one of these really cool videos to watch. Now a sit down hydrofoil is where it is at!

haha! Thanks for the laugh. But given that the poster is in a 2001 Tige, he has not yet reached the magnitude of money dumped to do this that some of us have. So I think in his case, let's cut him some slack. But when I see someone ask about RZX3 vs. G23 fuel consumption, I can't help but smile.

Anyone looking for for the base part? I have the Slingshot Wakefoil with 24" mast available. Think it's been in the water once or twice. We broke the board and have no use for it, so make an offer! I don't have the hardware to connect base to board.

At least you can jump and do a 3 with your feet strapped in. I would be interested in doing it again with the feet tied down.

really surprised at how easy it seemed for him to keep up with the wave, untethered at the end. Didn't seem like a huge wave and he kept going. I'd be interested to try it, it looks like a ton of fun, but at the price for a board/foil, I'll stick to wakeboarding and surfing.

It looks like you can pump the board and keep going almost indefinitely. But that looks a lot like exercise.
