I tried real hard last year (2018) to rent one of the mobile homes. They are on a strict no rental agreement with the HOA. The owners are only allowed to occupy them for 180 days out of the year. No one can permanently live in a national recreation area. If we lived in Nevada or Arizona we would buy one in a heartbeat. I think Temple Bar would be a great place to call our home lake. Of course the year we did that the reunion would move to Powell or somewhere.

Brad and I looked at moving it a few years ago because we were receiving a lot of feedback from the attendees that we were outgrowing Temple Bar. We looked at other locations on Mead, Lake Mohave, and Lake Havasu. For many different reasons (price, accommodations, community feel, etc.), we continued to believe Temple Bar was our best option. Perhaps it will move to another location some day when we someone else is coordinating it, but I can say this - it won't move in 2019!

Wow! You're WAY off! The canoe would be our fourth boat in 5 years.

There is a forever long wait list to get one of those mobile homes. I can't remember how many decades long the list was, but it was long.
          Maybe my kids can try?

Just saw the posting. Everything is sold out except camping spots.

How did it work out for you this year doing the RV rental thing you did? Would that be something you’d recommend to others for next year?

It worked out great. We decided we would have no problem doing it again if we had to. The hardest part was finding someone willing to deliver their rv to temple bar. They all were willing but wanted to charge a ton of money for it. I can get you in touch with the lady that rented to us. She was good to work with.
                Otherwise find one on RVShare.com.

This is probably true. I didn’t look that far into it. Talking to Jen about the rv spot we used this last time I kind of got the impression that wasn’t the case. The rv spots are skattered all around the mobile home park. Just where a mobile home used to be or until a new one comes in. Maybe they no longer let new ones come into the park. Over time they will all be gone and then it will just be for rv’s. I have no idea though.

Not sure about National Rec Areas, but I know the with cabins on National Forest they are typically grandfathered in and cant be sold, only passed down in the family. If noone takes over keeping up with the cabin the Forest Service gets rid of them for good.
Know some folks with a cabins that the forest service handed them a 99 year lease and when its up supposedly the cabin is gone for good no matter what.

So 16 boat owners rented out 30 rooms? Right...

We had 20 Owners this year, but yea, 16 boats. I think there’s only 22 rooms including fishing cabins, but I could be mistaken. Either way, you somehow always end up with a room... I’d be willing to bet you end up with one again this year.

True, and we greatly appreciate that as our cup runneth over for sure. We schedule our vacations over a year in advance out of necessity and I sometimes worry too much. We will find a way!!! Lake Powell (like you said)?!!!

Just as a heads up for future reference, we stayed in the campground this year and were really impressed. Although no electrical hookups, it was clean, empty, free wifi, clean bathrooms, and water spickets and only 20 bucks a night. Motorhomes and trailers were allowed

                                Let it be!!!
