    Prop shaft removal

Does the rudder need to come off for removal of prop shaft?

I think it depends on the boat. Some were (are) right in line with the rudder and some were (are) offset just a bit.

2010 or so and up, the prop shaft slides out towards the dash from the bilge area, out of the Vdrive.
      Oh Yeah!

It depends on what equipment you have installed around your Vdrive, if it's removable and if your floor and gas tank have enough room to pull the prop shaft forward out of the Vdrive.

How far have you gotten with your attempt to remove the prop shaft? Are you doing it because you suspect the shaft is bent or are you trying to service the Prop Shaft Seal? If the shaft is not bent and the coupler is in front of the V drive you may be able to pull it straight up and through the Vdrive after you remove the prop. You're going to need to lubricate the prop shaft seal collar with a mild soap and water solution so the O-rings will slide a little easier as you pull the shaft through. As I'm doing mine I removed all my ballast pumps and opened up as much room to reach under the Vdrive and get at it.
