    Oil specifications

Hey all have 440 in my 2018.

Have done all oil changes with the recommended 530 semi synthetic, but I am curious why you can’t use the full synthetic version?

Here is a pic of what I get from my dealer but I see there are full synthetic versions from the same producer that have all the same designation.

Anyone know why indmar calls for semi vs full synthetic?

Honestly, id ask indmar directly. They had a rep posting here leading up to and after the Raptor roll out. Cant remember his handle though. Maybe search some of the early raptor threads and find him. Love to get him in this thread and offer some details on their position.

I do know that Syn is known to drip off the engine parts faster then dino-oil.

I’m in the car business and your correct. Some of the engines in my line up are pretty specific about what designated ratings the oil must be.

There seems to be a lot more to it than just the weight.

Anyway I will send indmar an email and post what they tell me.

Enginenut is the handle(Larry E). Hes is the top of the list at Indmar for tech support and was teaching all the Indmar service schools that they do for techs. Not sure if he is this year. I know he did last years classes(have to recert every 2 years so will see if its him still doing it when I recert this winter in Merced). Ive seen him post on other forums(skiers choice) before as well. Not sure if hes still actively posting though. Could maybe look at last post date on other Raptor boat forums and see if hes posting elsewhere.

Would be interested to see what response you get from Indmar. Keep us posted.

I always recommend reading www.bobistheoilguy.com It won't necessary answer your exact question but it tells you about why synthetic and why not.

Link to Indmar oil requirements, states full synthetic is OK for 360, 400, 440 and required for the 460 and 575.
