    HeyDay Boats

Hey guys, I was heading to the lake this weekend and saw a boat called a "Heyday". Very strange looking boat and when I looked it up, it seems to be a budget entry into the wakeboard/surf realm. Anyone actually been behind one of these?

I've never been behind one of them, but the fact that they are now a product of Bayliner tells me everything I need to know. https://bayliner.com/2016/10/bayline...ve-popularity/

Interesting concept/idea. It's one of those I have wondered if they are answering a question that no one has asked. For their price (low price point boat) you can get an older boat with a lot more options and equipment. So basically what you get is a slimmed down boat with a warranty. Wakeworld had a post recently where a guy rode behind it. http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=808776
      Oh Yeah!

They qere originally called Wake Tractor and Bayliner bought em out. I think its a great idea(budget wake boats), but I also hate the look.

Thanks for the link, I was wondering who "originally" created it. According to the article, former Mastercraft CEO and his son were the masterminds. I'll have to search the boat out on the water and see if I can bum a ride.

I have seen them at shows the last couple of years. I figure something that unattractive must perform well, or who would want it.

People that buy it are people looking for a sub 50k wake boat. I think a lot of buyers are first time owners that dont know/care about performance of the boat. Just want a payment that they can afford. I could be wrong on that though. Just what Ive heard from customers that bring it up.

If you put all the negativity to the side they put out a really nice surf wake. No lies. I haven’t surfed one but this is coming from a pro skim rider who has

I hope nobody took my post as negative, I did not intend it that way. Most manufactures place appearance over performance. Fluid dynamics is what it is, and it can not be changed. Achieving a great surf wave may result in a hull that's not as stylish as others. I truly hope the best for them. I believe there is definite demand for a price point boat that places performance over style. There are always a few gullible buyers that shop price alone, but if the product has neither style or performance, the word will quickly get out.

                      1. There are plenty of beautiful hulls that can put out a great wave.
                      2. Head straight over to Moomba and don't look back. They perform, and for the most part still have the style.

There's a black and orange Heydey like the pic above that I've seen at our local lake. They can put out a good or great wave all they want but I can pretty much guarantee that buddy will have a hell of a time ever trying to sell it. With the cool mornings/evenings we get in the spring and fall it's not a boat that I would want to be on without a windshied or some kind of wind block.

I agree, I'd rather have an older used vdrive over one of these.

Lol that’s the heyday I was talking about. The owners are actually really happy with it too.

You know, everyone wants to trash Bayliners, but let me throw a wrench in the works. Besides 4 Winns and Reinell, Bayliner is the most common I/O I see in my bay(theres a long time Sea Ray dealer in our area as well and I see them the least) and let me tell you something, YOU CANT KILL A BAYLINER. Short of freezing a block these boats take a licking and keep on ticking. Many are onto their 3rd or 4th owners and because they were a "cheap" boat they are often neglected, sit outside with poor/no cover, and receive very little TLC by their owners.
Are they kind of junky and mass produced simple boats, sure! But they stand up to a ton of abuse. Go to the coast/Puget Sound and you will still see lots of Bayliner Constessa and other large 28+ ft flybridge cabin cruisers still in the marinas as well. BTW Brunswick owns them all now anyways.
                              https://www.brunswick.com/brands/marine-boats/index.php

Brunswick also owns Merc, Lenco, Blue Sea etc.. Cruise the website and you will find they have quite the monopoly on the marine industry today.
