    I hate it when I am on the swimstep and someone keeps the engine running unless I am ready to go and hop right in.

    Your starter and its components should last a very long time, unless you get it wet. I have replaced one starter in nearly 20 years...and that was a month after the only time I forgot the plug, no surprise there. I would think those only become issues after 500+ hours.

    @boatwakes, have you ever replaced flywheels or other starting components on late model boats with not a lot of hours?

      Yep, and as I noted, the choice of non-synthetic oil (of which T4 is one example) further improves on your point about recranking a warm (e.g. recently used) engine: Non-synthetic oil won't drain off the internal metal surfaces as fast, so it's more likely to still be there protecting those surfaces. True for ANY starting cycle, cold or warm.
