^^^yeah....there is something to be said about new boat smell (*not that I would know it

That warranty is pretty key for sure, especially with the touch screens, automated ballast and surf system. Still a 100 hour boat probably has all the kinks worked out of it and let's face it, free warrantee work is nice but having your boat around is better. When my screen went out my dealer was super awesome and let me just bring the old one in. Swapped it out in my garage in less than an hour total of enjoyable work. One of my ballast hoses was kinked and I just spent 15 minutes fixing it as well. Point is the vast majority of warrantee work is pretty easy to do yourself and that which is not probably won't happen on a 100-150 hour boat (which will still have 2 yrs of warrantee left BTW).

I'm not sure there is a laundry list of significant options other than the new tower...although the total boat cover would be pretty sweet and the ability to get a 2:1 tranny with a 17" prop. Personal preference but I like the 16 stereo setup better than the the new setup and I certainly like gauges and TT over a single point of failure Clear screen where everything runs from.

I agree, Im def a used boat guy but people with means arent going to care about the depreciation. I say it breaks even in 3 years anyway with prices going up every year by 10%. This industry amazes me...

R23 ballast- on my '18 I found it will surf just fine with stock ballast, just don't put any weight in the bow. and it's just not going to win any "most amazing wave" comps, if such a thing existed.

So, if you want a really meaty, long wave, on an R23 then agree with others, add lead bags. we're currently running #450 on each side (900 total) under the rear pnp bags and the wave is as good or better than anything I've been on 23' or less. and the thing is, it will definitely take more weight which we're going to add underneath the pnp bags that go up each side under the seating. probably another 200# per side.

This is great info. So if i were going to demo a R23 with a dealer who is definitely NOT going to be rocking 900 pounds of additional lead, Just empty the front and fill both rears? This should give a decent representation? What should we set taps 2 and taps 3 to?

Thanks so much for the info. I want to give Tige a fair chance.

yes. if you're demo-ing stock ballast then rears all the way full, put all crew on the surf side if possible to list . if you wanted to try 20% bow on surf side to help list that should help too. settings: Surf 4, TAPS 4 to start. the higher the taps2 number the steeper the wave will get. i'd start with speed of 10.8, the faster you go the longer the wave, but it will also mellow out.

You can also just list it. Fill one side in the back all the way up. Pretty dang good wave

The difference between a 16/19... User interface, big screen, power tower and subloor ballast. For some, well worth it, for others not so much. For me? The power tower/screen/subfloor are masssssssive upgrades.

Agreed, the 19 mentioned here is basically a Z3 with all the options it has. And very well worth it...

Just list it and not use the surf system at all?

I'm not going to lie....I'm still struggling with the name though. $130k for a Z3 sounds way better than $130k for an R23. For people new to Tige it obviously doesn't matter though. All of us are used to Z = High end, R = Low(er) end.

i haven't done a 100% listed setup. i think bakes means you fill up the bags on the surf side only? i haven't tried that. if you do that you really want to sink that surf side.

my slight list suggestion when both rears bags are full is that for me a slight list seems to clean the lip up a little.

but this hull loves junk in the trunk. think sir mix-a-lot...🤣

I dont think most people would pay the asking price. The 103k range mentioned earlier sounds closer to accurate.

Just so you know that MC has some incorrect info in the listing. That's the ZFT4 tower which is not a power tower, but is super easy to fold manually. It's got the 7" screen which is the same screen you get in an older Z or a lesser optioned R now.
That Tige is pretty much optioned to the hilt(is a Z3 with a different sticker now) and has zero hours compared to the 421 on the MC. If resale/trade value is going to be a factor in a couple years the MC loses my vote.
I'd say dealer support is key as well so figuring out which service department is going to do more for you on the backend of your sale is worth exploring. Go meet the service manager/writer/techs and see what you think from both dealers. I'm an MC hater(that works at an MC/Tige/Moomba/Supra dealer) and I'd take the r23, but I am biased so...

                            Good luck!!

Oh...I did not realize subfloor ballast. Yeah...that’s a big one. Probably bigger than anything else since you can have some storage back.

The name is the problem, not so much the price. If you pay $103k for an "R23" today, you are seriously overpaying for the "R23" we are used to. That R23 sells for very low $80k's.

Would you still buy a Ferrari if they changed their name to Fiat? You want to tell someone you just paid $250k for a Fiat?......... "NO, no, no. It's the loaded one... It's nice."
