I am thinking I would just steam on, wipe off with a clean towel. Is that how you do it? I just realized we have a steamer for clothes that shouldn't be ironed, I bet it will work, at least to test the cleaning power of steam.
Yeah most have an attachment that you can secure a microfiber too. Steam and wipe with the attachment....

You don’t want to cook it but you can work it a bit before hurting it...

Did you try your small steamer?

Yes. The clothes steamer has a metal head on it, so I did not apply it directly to the vinyl, but it does shoot out steam pretty well. I used it on a few areas and it seemed to work almost as well as scrubbing with a brush and a regular cleaner. I think if I had a head that was made for direct contact, it would have worked a bit better. I feel like the jury is still out a little bit on this one. I did have to make a couple of passes to make it work, so it was not necessarily quicker, either. But again, this unit was not made for direct contact, so I don't feel steam got a fair trial here. I am hoping to hear back from someone else's experience too before I buy a steamer more suited to this purpose.

            You tempt me again....

So do these units suck the steam back up into a separate container like a home carpet cleaner? I think that would make a difference than just spraying steam on it and wiping it off like I did.
