    FAE on 2017+ boats?

Just went to the FAE website and they stop at 2016 for the year. If your boat is 2017+ do we need to order thru our dealer/Tige?

I would talk with a human at FAE before I took the web site as absolute. However, I think I read somewhere that owners of new model boats will need source the OEM surf pipe through their dealer/tige.

^^Mike is spot on. I believe that the way it goes down is FAE is licensing their pipes to the different manufacturers so to get one you have to contact Tige/dealer. That being said I would still call FAE first and see if the say "no dice".

Yes and no. If you want a 2016 welded exhaust for your boat then you can source direct from FAE. If you want the new OEM Mandrel drawn (smooth pipe) exhaust that is now an option on new Tiges then you have to contact your local dealer. FAE has struck an OEM agreement with Tige that prevents them from selling the new mandrel drawn exhausts direct to customers.

I had to go through my dealer for my 2017 RZX2. About $1100 for the Exhaust and $400 for install. Be sure your dealer calls FAE to get the install instructions. Mine did not which resulted in a do-over.

Ouch....right now the 2016 FAE pipe would cost me $580 and that's without a group buy going on....I'll email FAE plus text my dealer tomorrow and see what they all say...thanks dudes

I remember this being discussed when the pipes first starting coming OEM but any issues with the ones from Tige failing due to not having the support like the FAE ones do?

$1500?! Still worth it but, damn.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I got Tige to add it to mine at the factory and I didn’t think it was 1500....

I just put a 2015 or 2016 Z3 unit on my 2017. Got it used on here. Works great. Total cost was like $325. Hard to justify $1500 as I have never felt like we have had an exhaust issue. The boat is much quieter now while cruising, but I don’t think it’s much quieter while surfing.

FAE has licensing deals with several MFG in which they are hands off. Tige however is not one. FAE actually has a mass MFG partnership which allows them to supply the new units to Tige rather then a License and forget it deal. My guess is that you will hear them try and get back involved with the companies that they merely licensed to early on now that they have the resources.

Improper 3rd party install's are the only ones having issues. The new units themselves when correctly installed are bullet proof. If you want the looks of the new style unit being polished, mandrel bent and not consisting of any brackets its worth the money. If you want save then go with the welded FAE IN-House units.

Cost on the units is over 1000K plus 2 hours or so depending on how tight the thru hole is.... Maybe they cut you some slack on the exhaust because you were buying a sitting factory boat..

Purchasing a device like the FAE/Surf Pipe based on its looks on the trailer, is like picking out brake pads based on the color of the backing plate, and not the compound of the friction material. I didnt really care about the looks, but the performance and build quality of my FAE.

With that said, the above post implies that FAE will sell consumer direct FAE's to owners of year model boats that could have come optioned with the factory surf pipe. This differs from whats been posted here before. id be curious to hear this direct from FAE. I think this is what the OP is going after. I dont know if 2017 and new owners have the option of "If you want save then go with the welded FAE IN-House units." so maybe we can get some clarification on that from FAE.

You are entitled to your opinion . For me? The performance of the units are the same. If break pads were items that were as visible as the one we are actually discussing and looked like a mini elephant trunk hanging off the rear of my boat, I would put a hell of lot more value in their appearance. A majority care about the finished look, some don't. But neither is wrong. Its a preference thing.

This has been confirmed here by people with 17s who are rolling the welded units. I would hope Tige isn’t expecting FAE to lie to customers regarding fitment etc. If you call FAE direct they will tell you that they wont sell you a "production unit" for 17 and newer. Friends of mine with 17s are saying that they wont turn you away from buying an in-house "different unit" either, if pressed because nothing has changed on them and they know the end customer realizes that. The reality is, the majority of people after seeing both, want the new unit anyway.
