    Lake Powell to Montana

I heard on the radio and now seen the article in the local paper, any boat with a ballast tank that has visited Lake Powell within the prior month must be quarantined. In an effort to prevent the spread of invasive mussels that have been found inside ballast tanks of boats leaving the lake. Montana FWP are requiring boats to have their ballast system flushed and not put in any Montana body of water for 7-30 days.

The invasive mussel problem has certainly became a serious concern for us.

It takes some work, but we just had one of our lakes declared mussel free after a few years of dealing with the issue. Of course, it looks like now a few more might have the issue. All it takes is for one lame boater to put his dirty boat in clean water and it's game over.

On the bright side, I scheduled a decontamination last year for our boat on the busiest day of the year at Jordanelle. I got in the water faster that way than by waiting in line. Not bad!

I am hoping they can get the upper hand on it for every ones sake.
