    Metcraft tower board straps

I am wondering if it's possible to get new straps for the tower board racks- made longer to accomodate wider boards and Surfboards. Any suggestions? Thanks! Will

I'm sure you'ld have to have them made. A local canvas shop could easily do it for cheep.

Now then, there's a whole big juicy can-o-worms associated with the term "Metcraft tower". I can't, in good concience, let this reply go without asking you to read up on that tower and it's "worms". It concerns your safety, so if you didn't know about it, please read. If you do know, a canvas shop can make new straps.

Here was the lastest thread on it. It contains links to older threads that have gone on about it. You'll probably have to sift through the miscelanious ramblings of Tequilasun or Dogbert, but there is good info in there.

Wow- you're right - what a derailed topic! As far as the tower goes though- I have had to replace one bolt that broke last summer. I put the tower down every time I use it so it goes in the garage, and have never had an issue with it. The welds all look great and it seems very stable- I am really suprised to see this is an issue frankly- how wide spread is this problem? Maybe Andrew at Tige can answer this one?? Thanks!

Alright , I have a metcraft tower.I have not been to the sight you povided but I have a 2001v that we bought 2 years ago without any problums. Yes it rattles but give it time and every tower out there will rattle. You may get crackes on your tower if you have a tower that was made in the early years of the tower. You have to remember that towers are still new to the boating seen. Back in 2001 when I started to dream about Tige Towers we a options Just like anything on the water it is going to go throught hell and we expect it to preform for us every time. It is up to you to Check these thing from time to time.

Well since you asked here i go.

Metcraft supplied us with towers for approx 4 years then we switched vendors for the next couple years until we decided to bring the towers in house. Towers were introduced in 1999 and the early one's comparing them to todays towers would be considered old time. The towers of early days were small in dia and built to pull a single rider. Then came killer sound systems, automatic rope dispensers, and of course pulling 2 riders or more at a time. I have seen girls sitting on top of the tower to get a better view of things and the olded style tower was not designed for all of the extra weight and such. Towers have evolved huge since the early times and since Metcraft built the towers the warranty was through them. As for getting longer straps to hold bigger toys this will have to be done local I do not know of any manufacturer that offers them.
