    Acme 3089

Anyone have a thought for this prop on a 2016 RZX with a 440, that won’t leave the hole worth a damn with a little weight and some elevation??

I just found it this am, and realize it’s going kill my top end, but I’m getting pretty desperate here..

I’d love to hear someone has run one, but even someone who knows props might have a thought.

    Thanks for any help!!

3000 ballast, 500 lead, 12 people on a heavy day.. anywhere from 4000-6200 ft, at the highest elevation.. running an Acme 2419 now and it’s horrendous..

Zack, I realize this is an old thread but I just bought a 2016 RZX that I will be using in Lake Tahoe. What did you end up with for a prop? I've read a bunch of your threads and it appears you have been through it all with your boat.

        Thanks!

Definitely been through it all. I think I ended up with an Acme 2949 15”x11”x.105” cup. I’ll have to verify that later, as I haven’t looked in a minute. Think that right, though. I talked to Jim at Acme a few times, and ended up with that is going to be my best bet, without trying a bunch of custom stuff. There’s a dude in Reno that’s really good with the custom stuff, if you want to get into that.

I was on Tahoe, last weekend, for celebrity golf, and got it to surf, with a light crew and some goofy ballast configuration, to keep the boat as light as possible, hit the rise and lean numbers I want, without getting too heavy. Not what you’re going to want to hear, unless you ended up with the supercharged motor, but I find tahoe pretty useless, for riding. I mostly use lakes at a lower elevation, 4200’ (lahontan) is pretty good, and we go over to Rollins and Bullards a lot, which we can run the boat as heavy as we want down there.

If you have a different experience up there, I’d love to hear about your setup. I’d still like to change my gearing to a 2:1 ratio, which I think would save me a bunch of headache. We pretty much only use tahoe for cruising and bar hopping, at this point.

I keep thinking Zack's RZX is going to be one of those boats that gets discovered at the bottom of Lake Mead as the water drops. I thought for sure you would have sunk it by now and gotten a G boat.

Haha!! Trust me, it’s crossed my mind!! Knowing my limitations, has helped my mental state, significantly. If my insurance company saw my first couple of years posts, I’d definitely be suspect number 1. My next boat will be a G, but with the price of boats, anymore, I’ll be buying an ‘18 in 2028, unless the economy completely collapses, not super far fetched at this point, then I’ll be calling the dealer up, immediately!!

How you doing brotha?? Been awhile!!

Zackdogg I've been at a Nautique dealer for over a year now and their $hit stinks just like everyone else's lol. It's all about who you've got cleaning it up.

You’re 100% right!! They aren’t flawless, but my dealer support would be fantastic, especially with NICKYPOO at our local dealer, not a dealer that hates me 110 miles away. We have 2 Gs in our group that goes out, and I’d say mine breaks something 4:1, compared to the Gs in our small test group. I know I got something approaching a lemon, at least for the first 2 years, everything has been pretty good the last couple. Do you know what drive ratio is in that thing?? Not being supercharged would worry me I’d be in the same boat, pun partially intended. My buddy with the 2015, has a supercharger, and a 2:1 drive. It will move any amount of weight, at any elevation we’ve tried.

Zackdogg I can't remember if it has the 2:1 or the 1.76. Pretty sure it's 2:1 tho.

We've delivered a couple new Gs with the new supplemental ballast and optioned with the LSX instead of the Supercharge. That 7.4 pushes all the weight and on 87 instead of premium. The 6.2DI will hit wakeboard speed fully loaded with supplemental but I haven't tried up high. Local lake is 2k ft. The LT4s are definitely bad mothers but they aren't cheap lol. PCM wants 19k just for a longblock

Thank you Zack. I'll be trying it out for the first time mid August. I'll let you know how it goes. For some reason I'm not getting notified of responses. I will try to check in more often

I'm eagerly awaiting the economy collapse. It'll happen. In the meantime, prices are stupid high. I sold off my RZX2 and made $20k a year ago. So I've been without a boat for a while. I keep looking at them and have heart failure over prices and the junk that they really are. However, I spent the last 5 days in a $750k diesel pusher motorhome and could not get over all the issues it had for only having 31k miles. I would be beyond furious to spend that kind of money and get that kind of engineering and build quality. So it happens all over.

Anyways, we are great! Moved to AZ while we prep to buy property and build a fishing lodge in AK. Hope to have it up and running next summer. I'll be buying a slightly different boat then...

It would take a pretty incredible price to get me to buy something this year. That price tag is pretty hard to swallow, my buddy bought the same boat, except it was a year old and 50 hours, for almost $30k less, when it was basically new. Another buddy just bought a low hour ‘19, with a supercharger, for $5k more than that.

Are you seeing any drop in sales this year? Having $60k equity in ours is nice, but guessing my rate would be about double what we have, and basically starting over on a loan, would be tough to swallow. Hopefully at some point, I’ll find gears for mine, and I’ll be happy enough with my boat for hopefully like 10 years. Knowing it’s limitations makes my stress level quite a bit lower, and the GSAs have improved my wave some.

I didn’t know there is a 7.4 now, but that sounds like a killer setup, especially with the 87 octane, and fuel prices this summer. Our lake only has maybe 3 more weekends, on our side, before it gets too sketchy, then our weekends will be fewer and further between for the rest of the summer.

I’m 100% with you, it’s coming!! I only used our boat 3 weekends last year, and have only had it out twice this year. I’m kicking myself for not selling when you did, and just taking a couple of years off. I have plenty of buddies with boats. The lack of quality in all this “high end” stuff blows my mind. I can’t get away with cutting a single corner on anything I do, or my customer are all over my ***. I have a buddy with a couple hundred thousand dollar sprinter conversion that the rig is like brand new, and everything they put in it is falling apart.

That’s awesome!! Congrats bro!! Keep me posted on the lodge, we’ll be back up there for a caribou hunt next year, and I want to fish up there again next July or the following, before my dad gets too old for that stuff. Do you know where you’re going to be?

We will likely be in Seward. Looking at a couple properties and will likely put an offer in on one next week.
