Finally bought a box anchor. Anything I should know or do? I’ve always used a fluke style anchor and have had pretty good luck with it but it has broke free a few times.

Don't know much about them but they look aggressive. Our lakes around here are rock and some mud so flukes kinda work but not real well. Mushroom are more popular around here. I personally use a 30LB kettle ball stumbled on it by accident. lost my 20lLB mushroom. Was out of town went to the local Walmart to get a new one for the next days events all they had was a 12LB witch I knew wouldn't work. So I bought the 30LB kettle ball. Works really well 7 out of 10 times you got to use the boat to get it broke free to get it up.

I just used mine for first time last weekend at a sandbar that is about waist deep. Just drop it in let out some extra line and let wind or current do the rest. Boat didn’t move an inch. When your done pull rope so you are directly overhead of anchor and it will pull straight up. It grips so well I don’t think you can drag it much, that’s the reason for pulling yourself straight above it before pulling it off the bottom of lake.

Assuming you’re using it at Lahontan, a couple of us are using large slide box anchors, and they work killer, out there. Toss them in, the set almost instantly, and spike a line to the transom. None of us have had one move an inch, yet. They fold up nice, and store in a bag, and you pull straight up and they release. My buddy discovered them, and we’re all making the switch!!
