    2017 RZX2 Lemon!

We factory ordered an RZX2 with all the bells and whistles including the 460 Raptor and got it in June of 2017. Since then the boat has been in the shop more than we've had it. The steering since day 1 has been awful. When you are pulling someone and can't turn the wheel to avoid hitting something (and I'm 6'2" 300lbs) and have to dump the throttle (and the surfer!) in order to turn its ridiculous.

Was told numerous times by the dealership "that's normal" because there is so much thrust against the rutter well that's crap. If that is normal the a boat that even has individual heaters for the riders would have power steering!! This is completely unsafe. Tige finally contacted me over the winter after I complained in my customer satisfaction survey and asked if I could get the boat to the dealer...it was already at the dealer. I never heard anymore about it and even followed up with the person who emailed me from Tige and got no response. So we go and pick up the boat this spring and OMG I can barely steer it a 4mph now. I have to reef on the wheel then it finally let's go then it over steers so I have to reef it the other way and the same thing back and forth, I can't even let the kids on behind as I can't imagine how bad that would be. I've had letters fall off, the throttle was so loose it would accelerate and decelerate on its own, high pressure oil warnings several times, issues with the electronics, the alternator was shot on the initial test drive when we were getting the boat delivered, alarm bells going off in the engine compartment, speakers didn't work, the boat lists likely a good 25 degrees if I'm in it myself (so much it's uncomfortable) and even if I fill the ballast on the opposite side it doesn't level out), air/fuel sensor....its a joke. This is a $220,000 (Canadian Dollars) boat that is not even safe to drive.

I finally told the dealership that I won't be taking this boat back, its just not safe. So they said they are "committed to resolving the issues" but haven't listened to my issue for 2 years so then they said they would try and sell it for me on consignment for $150k and take a 13% commission!!! So they think I'm eating $70,000 and they are going to make even more money off it? Absolutely ridiculous, this boat is a lemon.
Anyone else have problems like this?

Not sure about Canada, but here in the US, lemon laws to not apply to service departments that cannot resolve an issue. its an extremely long and complicated process that usually involve mediation before resolution.

Good luck. Its sounds like you just need a fresh set of eyes on it.

So steering is tougher with weight but I know this isn't your issue. I was out with a customer yesterday with the same complaint. With the boat on the trailer it turns fine but with weight in it at locks up and requires tons of effort to free it, then it gets easy for a few degrees then tightens back up. I think it's related to the smartwheel as I haven't seen an issue with any other pre smart wheel boats.
I will be diving into this issue soon so hopefully can come up with an answer for you.
Not to shift blame away from your dealer but I had to go out with the customer to see and feel his complaint and the boat sitting on the trailer in the shop turns easily lock to lock.

Their is a rudder recal for 17. I would bet 80% its that. We thought some of our issues were smart wheel related. We finally figured out most if not all of them were rudder related. Tige made a running change in 17 to a new assembly, some were trash. They have since gone back to the smaller rudder. Start there. Tige is swapping the ones that people have had issues with under warranty.

Supposedly they are now replacing the rudder but that doesn't help with all the other problems and the boat having to be at the dealership more than here. With only about 12 weekends of boating season a year and now losing the last 2 years our son will be with us at the cottage its pretty hard not to be completely pissed off and thinking about going to my lawyer. Luckily I was careful to email everything to the dealership everytime I dropped it off with a problem (which was every time we took it out).

Where about are you in Canada? I’ve had a bit of experience with all the western ones. It’s definitely frustrating when your new toy isn’t working and the dealer isn’t having great luck fixing things.

My 2017 has the same issue as stated in earlier comments and I had my dealer change it out like elevated stated and it drives like a dream empty or loaded heavy with ballast now , it definitely took care of the problem with the rudder swap.

Call Tige and you dealer everyday, and then right after that follow up with an email. Tige has replaced entire boats before. If yours has that many issues maybe that is what needs to happen. Good luck man.

How are you making out with your lemon? Any progress?

Grease-less rudder on the 2017's is the issue with the steering. Needs to be swapped out.
Chromax decals were recalled by the vendor.
On the throttle most people use cruise control so a light shifter doesn't really matter. In my opinion its preferred.
Strange the boat is listing. Are you sure ballast are completely emptying? I would have the dealership pull the floors on the drives side and inspect the bag placement.
The other items seem to be Indmar related.
                    Oh Yeah!

Got the boat back this weekend after changing the rudder and it finally drives like it should don't know why it's taken us missing 2 summers for them to figure something this serious out. This boat was not safe to drive last year and now most of this year. Now I can turn it with one hand with full ballast and full acceleration...too bad this is the 2nd last weekend our oldest son is with us before heading off to school and the rest of his life. And the icing on the "lemon" cake...the letters are falling off it...again.

Sorry to be so negative but this has been an extremely disappointing purchase, I traded our last boat in not because there were any issues with it at all but because it was out of warranty and thought I don't want any hassles when our summers are so short. Big mistake.
