    ASR battery upgrade

Anyone have experience with adding batteries in an ASR? One is bad for sure so going to just get all new. Maybe one 24 cranking and then two 27s or 29s?

You already have 2 correct? 1 starter and 1 acc.....just added a 3rd batter to acc. I had a 3rd batter added to my boat, just wire correctly so it adds as 12 volt and does not turn the 2 batteries into 24 volt. Utube will show you how to do that. Chpthril installed the 3rd battery for me last year.

Yes one 24 cranking and one 24 deep. If one is bad I guess I could take both in to see but why not just start clean because I'm not going to add a new battery to an old one. Everything I've read says if they are going to be wired together they need to be the same age. And then if I buy new I might as well go bigger with 27 or 29's. Just want to know what fits with any experience.

I know 3 G-24 will fit in the locker, but I dont think two 27 or 29/31 along with a 24, will. Maybe consider a pair of 6V GC's. About the same foot print as two 24's, just taller. Likely more Ah then two 29 as well.

I did not mean don't replace the original 2, I think its smart you are doing that. Will guarantee they all last quite a while, especially if you have marine maintainer to keep them topped off.

I use interstate with good results. With proper care and maintenance, most any reputable brand should serve well.
