Lift Capacity

I saw a couple of lift threads on here. But nothing really discussing weight limits. You guys with hydrohoist style floating lifts. What model did you go with? I seem to be getting conflicting reports. Boat is a 2015 RZ4. Will a 6000lb work? Or do I need to bump it up to 8000?

I'd personally by the 8,000 for the little extra it will run you. Assuming 4645# dry weight plus 408# in fuel. You'll be at 5K plus gear weight, which will put you close to 6k. Its also very nice to be able to get in and out of the boat while on the lift without worrying about it moving around.

I also have about 300 lbs of batteries. It just seems the 8k ones are harder to come by in the used market. On the other hand, there are 3 6k lifts currently for sale around here. One guy is claiming it lifts his 7k centurion no problem. But we know how that goes.

Does he have the 6K lift still in a dock where you could test it out? A 6K lift would probably lift it. I would just question how stable it was. When a storm blows through or a big wave hits the dock that's when the extra lift capacity is nice. Big waves can hit the lifts it can knock some of the air out, reducing the capacity a few bubbles at a time. Do that enough during a storm and the boat could drop back down. I would hate to invest in a lift to find out its not large enough and then have to start over. Or in the even you upgrade models, they don't seem to be getting any lighter weight
