You’re a badass, if you’re surfing in November, at least where I come from!! Lakes will be low, and could be snow on the ground!! In reality, I hope you’re right, we have lakes within a couple of hours in California that are close to year round, but we have to tow through the sierras to get there. It will all depend when we winterize, and how the roads are.. if we get an early hard freeze, we’re probably donzo, we also sometimes get weather into the 60’s in December.. it’s pretty well a craps shoot, for us!!

Find a storage place on the other side of the Sierra!

We still got another month and a bit up here in Canada!

I grew up in Alaska. I never boated there without a wetsuit on.

I don't think the mountain lakes ever warmed up this summer. It is cooling off quick though. 3 weeks ago it was 84* at Willard. 2 weeks ago it was 74. Didn't go last weekend and wont make it this one either. Might be wetsuits after Mead, for the rest of the season.

Best 3 months of boating coming up. Everyone is stuck in ballsport hell with their kids. Don’t get me wrong, I like a game as much as anyone, but whomever invented the Saturday away game, double or triple header for 13 year olds is a tool.

Poaching some butter last November in Colorado. Last trip was Dec 2nd.

The lake we were at last weekend was down to 68° water temp, and low 70’s air, which isn’t bad at the beginning of the summer, but feels like ice this time of year. Our first weekend out was 55° water, no wetsuit, which was on the verge of unbearable. Really makes you not want to crash though!

I don’t even want to know what our water temp is right now. All I know is that its got constant rain and no sun for at least 3 weeks. Probably low 60... Air is down to 60 as well... sad times

Damn, I’m going to go into a depression!! I need to buy a wetsuit, or go back to snowboarding!!

some of it is my bad, for assuming that a boat will do what the manufacturer claims.
Seems another thread has gotten off topic, so im coming back here to ask.

Did I not read in this thread early on, that the dealer said without hesitation, that this boat/engine package would do just fine in YOUR scenario? That is a paraphrase, not a quote. Knowing your boating needs and lake elevation? Did a manufacturer representative, outside of any franchise dealer personnel, make such claims as this boat's performance, knowing your lake elevation and the above OEM ballast?

Private sale from a guy in our area who is....not very honest. He bought the boat out of FL I think. He buys a new boat every year then flips it. He buys boats outside of Boise because we are hip to his game and sales wont come down to his price on boats just to have him sell them right back into our territory(he puts the boats on CL at the end of every summer) . He mostly finds holdover boats and just keeps harping on the dealer until he gets them down on the boat. Part thats really annoying is he will say whatever he needs to to get a dealer to sell the boat out of their territory. Im sure Zackdogg will verify he didnt get a truthful story from seller at the time of sale.
At the time we would order the RZX with a 575 ONLY. UNSTUCK's is the first 440 with a 2:1 that got tried out at our elevation in our area. Even at that though we have had 3 customers order RZX3s with 575s because they want to run lots of weight and at higher elevation than Boise(5k +) so our sales guy told them the 440 w/ 2:1 wouldnt cut it. We had a customer order a Supra SE last winter and customer decided he didnt want the 575 when he ordered. Hes trading back in and wants to order a new SE with a 575 this fall.
General point is SC is still the answer for big boats unless they are staying down here in town or lower. Sucks Zackdogg got hustled a bit. Same offer stands Zack, we can also handle a 2:1 swap if you decide to go that route. Sorry you arent happy with your boat. Thats a rough spot to be, especially when you make that payment. Good luck man.

I did get off topic, and it was really reactionary and not intentional. I apologized over there, and won’t drag their thread down.

I bought the boat private party, from a very similar elevation to mine. Seller told me it performed well at their elevation which is almost identical. I admitted that I made assumptions, and although I though I had done some homework, it apparently wasn’t enough. Of course some of the blame is on me. Hell, maybe all of the blame is on me. If this boat was a rocket at sea level and a complete dud at elevation, it would fully be on me. I’ve used the boat at 400’, which is pretty damn close to sea level and it still won’t push the factory ballast and capacity of people. If it did that, I would at least be remotely satisfied that it will “at least” did what it is advertised. My personal opinion is a boat with $155k sticker on it should go above and beyond. Maybe I’m the idiot for expecting that. It really sucks that they could have put a 2:1 in it from the start, probably without costing Tige a dollar, and there wouldn’t have been an issue, which is why I think it comes down to their r&d. Instead I have to dump $12k into my boat to get it to do what they say it will.

                            Now I get the picture.

                            Zack,

Your whole premise of operating the boat is flawed bud. Let me further explain.

The ballast in the boat is a means to displace enough water for the boat to perform with minimal people. Maybe you dont know, but if you load to boat to capacity which you just said you do up above ,and then fill all the ballast its gonna make the boat work hard I dont care at what elevation you are. 16 people at an average of 170lbs is close to 3k extra lbs..... I dont care what motor you have thats a lot of weight.

If I take a Rzx 3 out with full ballast and 1k extra in weight it is money. You are trying to do nearly 2x that and wondering why its having trouble LOL.

The ballast is a supplement. You have 16 people in the boat you dont run the ballast full, its fairly simple math dude, but maybe no one explained that to you.

Most of us that are running big weight arent doing so with 20 people on board...... we are doing it with 5

Then I am 100% percent wrong, and I did make the wrong assumption.. we rarely run 16 people, but a lot of times 10-12, and a few of those are usually girls and kids, but also a few big dudes. I’ve done the math and it’s usually 1600-2000 in people. If that’s the case, I was expecting too much out of the boat, and you telling me that does make me feel a little better about how the boat performs. I usually carry #700 in lead, full disclosure, as well, even though weighing the bow, as you obviously are aware of, does help it reach plane easier which is where my problem lies. I also run 3-7 people, and have struggled, although not nearly as bad with the 15x11 prop.
