You should drag your boat here and put it up against mine. I really think you’ll be impressed. At least that way you are not guessing or hoping. You will know exactly what your boat will become.

I would actually be in to that. I’m pretty screwed for time for the next little bit, but I do think that would be interesting. How late in the year do you guys run?

I wish I could make it to Mead, for the reunion, this year. I have a wedding in So Cal that weekend, and it’s one I can’t get out of.

Even you stomping me into the ground with your “fancy” 2:1 drive, still leaves me with do I dump $12k into this boat, or sell it and move on. I really do like everything about this boat, with the exception of it not even being capable of performing what it was advertised to do. Having to sell this one probably would mean I never buy a Tige again, anyways, at which point it doesn’t mean much. Then you’ll have to get a Nautique or Supra to kick my *** with.

If you guys run late enough into the year, I will take you up on that. Maybe I can continue on to Abilene so someone from the factory can show me what’s wrong with mine.

Would be a perfect apples to apples comparison....with the only change being the 2:1 (and the older tower). As long as both bilges are dry and bags/ lead weight is the same it would truly make for a great review.

Maybe the tower is slowing me down??? Just kidding, I would like to see it. Right now I only have Nautiques to compare against, which maybe it isn’t a fair comparison.. who knows, I’m trying to enjoy the summer with what we have, and use it to the best of its capability, without losing too much cool, over it. I’ve learned almost all my lessons on my first boat, which is probably really valuable for the future.. I guess I came into it with the mentality of what I know, which is bike, cars, and faster boats, not really contemplating that if I needed more power, or something changed, that it’s not really all that doable on these. There aren’t bolt-ons, and mods to be made, for the most part, you’re pretty stuck with what you got. Lesson learned!!

I’ve got my 3161 (16x12) getting sent in to remove some cup, I’ll report back on how it works. That 15x11 should be good but your rpm will be crazy.

Talking to acme and the tech guy was noting how they need a 15.5 with a lower pitch so maybe something will come.

As always, keep me posted brotha!! I’m real curious, I wish I had gotten the stock prop with the boat, so I could run some comparisons. I’m going to guess it wouldn’t even budge with the stock prop.. I’m real curious to see the difference between the 15x11 and 15x12.. I’ll take higher revs all day, within reason I guess, if it means pushing our weight.. Acme is telling me it’s the right prop for me, our local guy is saying the same, so it’s worth a shot! If they need a boat to test some 15.5 options on, I know a guy!

UNSTUCK's boat was the first one we had with the 2:1 with a 440 and it seems to perform all the way up to 5k ft with the right prop. Hopefully the 15x11 helps push some more weight, but Im guessing it wont be as much as you were looking for.

I appreciate it bro! And the elevation I run at would be a fair enough reason, if it performed at sea level, which it doesn’t, either. It’s better, but it won’t push the weight that it holds, even with a lower pitch on the prop. That’s pretty inexcusable, if you ask me. Ultimately I know I’m effed without something drastic, but hopefully I can get something out of it, for the rest of the summer..

It was good to finally meet you bro! It’s funny, as much as Reno has grown, how small town it still is. This is a great site, and there are a bunch of guys that genuinely are looking to help people, you’re one of them, and I appreciate you guys listening to me bitch about my first world problems. “Waaaa, my big boat doesn’t surf as good as I want it to!!” Things could always be far worse. Either way, I’m not going anywhere. Even if I am rolling around on a different boat.

Next time I see you, if you have time, let’s go for a ride, and we’ll see what you think. I’ll probably camp this weekend. A buddy is hoping to get the first pass out of a drag boat that he’s been building for 5 years.. not gonna miss that!!

We were on the water last year into November, but Boatober is a great time to come here. Wetsuit weather if you want to get in the water though. While I have never done this swap before I was fully planning on doing it myself to another boat I was going to purchase. I'm a mechanic by profession, so it wasn't going to be a big deal. Have you thought about doing the swap yourself? That would save a ton of money and then the parts you sell will recoup even more of the cost. I have no doubt you could do this swap for WELL under $12k once it's all said and done. At least, maybe you could do the major work of the swap then take the boat in and have them make sure the prop shaft is aligned properly. Things like that.

Dude, if I can make it, I’m there, 100%!! I’ll look up the dates, I have stuff going from now until October, but I’d love to do that.

Yeah, I have definitely considered that. I’m pretty good with a wrench, have friends who are mechanics and fab guys by trade, and friends that build some pretty legit race boats. I have zero doubt that we could get it done, and it’s definitely a consideration. I’m also trying to keep the warranty I have intact, so just another thing I have to weigh out. I may have to wait out another year, until then warranty is dead, and go that route. I’d also have to find a shop that would be cool with me starting a project that they’d have to finish, because of shaft alignment, which I’m sure requires some knowledge and tools..

The guys over on MC Team Talk have a bunch of threads on shaft alignment, here is one http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/...ad.php?t=64052, and someone I work with has done the alignment based off instructions from their website. I am sure you could find the resources to get you going on that. I'm betting most shops would be willing to do the alignment for you. Making some money is better than none.

Also, I read a thread on removing the trans from a V-drive, can't remember if it was on here or TT. But it would have some useful information, didn't seem too hard. just need a hoist, or fork lift.

We’re going out with JP (you met him on Sunday) on Friday. Not sure where yet. He’s kind of a mountain lake guy. I’ll probably take my boat out to Lahontan during the weekend. I’ll for sure go for a ride with you though.

I’d very interested to check out buddy’s new boat. Flat?

Definitely appreciate the link, and it makes me want to have the dealer align and maybe install the prop seal.. if I go that route, I’ll probably talk to some people beforehand, and see what I can work out.. we’re good on a lift, at least one step is solved, haha!!

No, but the dealer had it and couldn’t find any issues.. I’m going to try to get them to run it on Tahoe with the computer hooked up to it.. if it were up to me, they’d keep it until a problem is found, and fix it right, and once. Doesn’t seem to work that way. They mess with it, say “come get it, let us know if it’s any better”, then I have to Gary Cox the hell out of them to look at it again.. which I am willing to do, but it’s time intensive.

I could throw a compression gauge on it, and see what I get, though.

Definitely have been! We’ll be on 9, most likely, if we can find a spot, and be there from Friday pm- Sunday pm.. if you’re around, we’ll take a small crew, and a cooler of course, fill her up and see what happens.. might be a little different scenario with the new prop, but I’m guessing not drastic..

Yeah, he’s just finishing his flat, should be about the baddest thing out there, these days, which we know isn’t like the old days.. hopefully he can get it out..
