Issues with "out of the box" 2018 boat

    Hi there!

Im the owner of a new 2018 r20. This thing has been nothing but a pain in the ***!!!!!!!! Ive had it on the water for only 8 hours, not one of those hours was I trouble free.
First day on the water.....amp wouldn't work.
Day 2. water temp wouldn't work
Day 3....Back to the dealer. On my way over to the dealer I filled the gas up on the boat.Boat said it had 30% left and yet only managed to fit in $20 worth on gas!!!!! Hmmmm. Guess the gas gauge is wrong too!
Day 3 was wasted with trying to update the software on the boat and trouble shoot. By the end of it, all was meant to work except for the water temp, replacement part needed.
Day 4. went surfing.....then the amps gave out again!
Back to the dealer. Replaced a CPU module

The next 2 weeks the boat was parked on the trailer as I was away for work.

    Day 1 back from work.
Tige step pad was pealing and rolling off the trailer!!! FFS!!
Day 2.Drop the boat in the water......Now beyond no water temp, the depth won't work. (Oh,didi i mention that I also have no sound either)
Tied the boat to the dock and waited for 5 days of rain to pass. Made another appointment with dealer.

    Day before dealer appointment.

Load the boat back up on the trailer. Go the attached the stern with the straps,Ratchet won't work..broken! Start driving down the road, two more of the step pads on the trailer are flapping around!!! Argh!!!!!!!!!

Back to the shop the next day.

They were meant to replace the transducer for the water temp/depth. Replace the amps and fix the trailer issues. I was told 3 hours.

3.5 hours later I return.Nothing is fixed. They can't find the fault! So I drive 2 hours back home.

The next day (yesterday) I get a call saying it was a broken wire within the harness that was causing the issues with the transducer. All is meant be fixed....

Who else has had similar issues?????? Is this a one off?

Thanks guys, really appreciate hearing your input. I sure that you can appreciate my frustration!!! Im afraid that I have a lemon. Tige was suppose to call me directly and "make things better" They never bothered. The boat has spent double the amount of hours in the shop then it has in the water since I've owner it.
    So frustrated!!!
Is this one off and if this has happened to anyone, did time actually stand up and make it right? This is a brand new boat, I shouldn't have to spend time and money running back and forth to the shop.

Can I ask a serious question? Was the boat water tested by you, with the dealer, just prior to singing the final paperwork? Any of these issue present then?

Who specifically @ Tige was to call you? Who told you a factory person was to call? If the dealer has not forward your issues to someone at the factory, how would they know?

hate to say it, but you are far from a "lemon". In terms of both time and failures and repair attempts.

Unfortunately issues like this are quite common with a new boat. I won't say that many necessarily but issues none the less. It also happens with most brands so it's not just a Tige thing. I was in a Pavati last weekend and buddy had issues with one sub not working (due to amp flashing), the stereo needed to be tuned because for the amount of speakers it has it wasn't very loud or clear, and some battery issues. This is where it's the dealers time to shine and make things right for you.

No issues when we tested it in the water. All seemed to work as far as I knew. The CEO of the dealership told me to expect a call from his Tige rep in Texas. No name was given. I was told that time that tige was well aware of the issues and the service department supposedly spent hours on the phone with then trying to resolve the issues.

Thanks for the reply. Greatly appreciated.

Hi BCrider, thanks for the reply. Am I to assume that this is just "teething" then and hope all is well? This is my forth boat in 10 years but its my first new boat. Bought new cause I didn't want issues. Guess its a learning curve!

by the way, cant say the dealer hasn't been good so far. They have dropped everything to sort out my boat. Im getting the boat back today so I hope I have a great day on the water. Love the boat, I just want it to work properly.

A lot of guys will come on here and say things like "all new boats do this" or "well these are hand made so it's to be expected" or " these are all issues dealers are supposed to fix before the sale so don't blame Tige". The list of excuses goes on for a while. I feel that they should be ready, as you put it, out of the box.
I'm convinced that I have owned the best two versions of Tige Boats: A 2000, that was so old everything had already been replaced and a 2017 that I bought with 120 hours so all the bugs had been worked out....knock on wood.

While I have never had to ask Tige to step up for something, it seems they do a pretty good job when the wheel squeaks. Hang in there. Get the bugs out and enjoy your new boat.

Sorry to hear about your troubles! Hopefully your dealer will take care of you. Sounds like a lot of little things and most of them aren't Tigé fault. Wetsounds does the amps, and guessing you have a Boatmate trailer as that is what most dealers go with. While not common, these issues can come up. Hang in there and you'll be enjoying a trouble free boat soon enough.

well, just got back from grabbing the boat. Everything was meant to be fixed. Dropped her in the watering guess what, a loud hissing from port side tower speaker and no tunes.....a new problem. I guess its asking too much that when 110k Canadian (85k usd for my friends south of my boarder)is spent that everything would work. Back on the phone now. I was sooooo excited about this boat. Honeymoon is fading quick. These are all minor faults but I worry about the bigger things to come.

pgf: I would agree that you should expect everything to tested and working the way it's supposed to right when you get it. I've never purchased a new boat before but I've heard the countless stories on this and other forums with the issues new boat owners have with things not working properly. That beings said, just like anything else you don't typically hear from the people that never had issues as they are just enjoying their boat, truck whatever it may be. It would definitely be PITA to have to deal with all of those things after a new purchase. Again, this is where the dealer has to step up and right the issues for you so you can get out on the water trouble free. Hang in there!

PGF, I feel your pain, my 17 Z3 has been a PITA too. Good luck with getting it working correctly. IMO everything these days is built as cheaply as possible and sold as a expensively as possible and once they have your coin they seems to care a whole lot less about you. Best of luck.

Cant recommend enough, to go over every thing on the work order, with the service re manager, prior to leaving the lot.

I picked up a 2018 RZR this may. Have had some issues with the boat but thankfully my dealer has been an absolute pleasure to deal with! Checker plate on the trailer was peeling, My dealer had ordered new ones even before I took delivery. Secondly my speakers were making that weird hissing sound, phoned them and they said there was an issue with the amps and they already had replacement amps for boats that had this happen. Also my gas gauge would always say 100% full no matter what, which was a weird issue but was determined the boat needed a soft wear update (which is ridiculous for a brand new boat). My boat made a few hour drive trips to the dealership but I will say that Riverside offered to come pick the boat and bring it back when it was done! I’m not one to pump tires but Riverside Marine in St. Albert Alberta Canada has been absolutely phenomenal and for my trouble they gave me my first service free of charge (already have 46’s on the girl!)

When I bought mine new I thought trouble free no worries. So I was frustrated at the start but my dealership was great some guys on this forum were great. I came to the realization that all brands will have issues. Bjornson's is my dealer luckily they are 20 minutes away and even though I have a Nautique dealer maybe 10 minutes away when I went in there looking to buy a boat they didn't give me the time of day.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations with your new boat. Some boats come in, get unloaded, get rigged, delivered, and I never hear anything from the owners again except for oil changes and winterization. Some boats deliver to the customer and end up coming back to work out some kinks. I know it's frustrating but hopefully your dealer is taking care of you. Your sales guys are only as good as the service that can back them up as your service department is the one you will be dealing with for the duration of your boat ownership. This is not only in relation to Tige either, as others have issue out the gate as well.
Good luck and hopefully your boat is dialed in shortly and you can enjoy it for the remainder of the summer and then next year pull it out and have confidence in the boat.
