ASR Stereo has me STUMPED!

I have my buddy's 2014 ASR sitting out front and can't figure out the issue. I had it all sounding great....shut it down.....came inside for about an hour and when I went back out to just listen to it again.....the amps were just blinking.

4 blinks in a consistent row....and then a pause.

When he drop it off. I noticed the front right cabin speaker was not working at all. I ended up unplugging it and swapping it with the left and it worked fine. I noticed channel 5 wasn't being used at all, which I thought was weird. Also notice the clarion will not turn on now.....its completely dead along with the SQ420. ITs the older 420. just FYI.

I unplugged channel 4 5 and 6 speaker wires and also unplugged all rca's. I can't seem to get the amps to power down on their own at all. Only way to shut them off is to take the positive 0ga wire out of the distribution block.

His setup is as follows.

SD2 for 4 rev10s
SD4 for 2 10in woofers
SD6 for 6 808s.

So did you figure out which in-boat was paired with another, and wire it to the unused chnl 5?

The amps EQ will not turn on, unless the head unit turns on and energizes the blue turn-on circuit. However, im also reading the amp wont shut off? So im a little confused on the current issue. if you have an amp that stays on, test for voltage at the turn-on terminal. If theres voltage, remove the wire, amp should power down, If the amp stays turned on, there is a short in the amp. Odds are slim that 3 amps are shorted internally, and staying on. Sounds like there is voltage on the turn-on lead when the head unit is off. Could be a bad head unit or a stray strand of wire bleeding over to the amps' turn-on.

The volts to the distribution block reads 7.37...... this needs to read like 12.6 right?

If thats the positive, then yes, 7.4 is an issue. Sounds like you might have just run the batteries down.

Ok...I'll charge them good and troubleshoot again. The lights are now flashing consistently without stops and can't shut off. I read your post on another thread about the firmware in these sd's. Until the head unit starts it back up again ....

Anyway to bypass the head unit if for some reason after I charge it up and maybe I fried the head unit?

If battery voltage is removed then reapplied, the amps will flash as if they are displaying a code, until they are cycled on. The flashing does not mean they are on. Check for or the lack of, voltage on the turn-on terminal will tel you if the amp should be on or not. If there is proper voltage at the power terminals and turn-on, and the amp is flashing, its flashing a code.

So when the batteries are turned off. The distribution block reads 6.89. when turned on it reads 7.56....so it's slowly charging since it was at 7.37 a little while ago. Do you think once it gets to 12.6 it should help with the Clarion unit? Is that voltage too low so it's not turning on the head unit probably....

Yeah, the clarion shuts off about 10V.

With the batteries turned off, the amps' distribution block should read 0V, but also keep in mind that the CAPs in the amps take a minute to dissipate the stored voltage.

That's odd.....it does read 6.89ish when the batteries are at off position. So right now the lights are flashing and the battery switch is turned off.

Any chance the distribution block isn't wired to the master switch??

Thats what it sounds like. Not ideal, but doesnt sound like an immediate issue.

I'm curious if a dead house battery has killed displays but is still sending voltage on the remote wire to the amps....somehow...Have you checked voltage on the remote (blue wire)

So now it's reading 10.52 this morning but the Clarion will not turn on still. Keep charging? We leave for the Ozarks in about 2 weeks......would I have fried something or does it still seem like low voltage? Getting nervous. How can I get these amps to reset if the Clarion doesn't turn back on? Just getting ideas for when I work on it after work tomorrow. I have to work late tonight and won't get to it till tomorrow night.

Seems like if you charged all night it would be closer to 12v. Wondering if you have a shorted cell in the battery.
