Your angle looks pretty similar to mine and the front plate is almost the same size. Your design should work just fine although I agree with the others on the suction cups. I think you’re gonna have a bit@h of a time getting that front lever pushed down with your design. Without a good amount of finger room it can be hard to latch them on the boat. Once that cup starts making suction on a wet surface it can take a bit of force to latch down.
Additionally, I chose to cut an angle on the front plate where it sits closest to the boat so that it can be placed at a slight downward angle without the front plate hitting the step in the hull. This way the water is deflected down and doesn’t spray into your boat. I’m not sure if the 22V has that step like the 22VE has where the hull connects to the gunnel though. I know the RZ2 has it as well.

I also use the princess auto one no problems except my boat seems to make a better wave listed still

@Jetdriver- I’m assuming the front lever doesn’t ever pull up and release from traveling through the water?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

No, and I’ve had the boat in the low 20s when I forgot it was still on after pumping the ballast out before.

Here are pictures of my suck gate. I used a stainless wire tensioner so that the angle of the paddle is somewhat adjustable. I also used the aluminum suction cup off of amazon and drilled little half circles at each suction cup base so that any excess water is squeezed out when you engage the suction. I sprayed everything with rustoleum rust inhibitor but sadly the springs and pins in the suction cup assembly are starting to show rust after two seasons. It works very very well though overall and I haven't had any issues with it falling off. It does sink like a rock though so be sure you have it tethered to a life jacket or fender just in case it falls off. That is one advantage of devices like the Nauticurl or similar retail products - they float!

I’ve been seeing them here and there that way, just didn’t seem possible. I will be making a new one tonight! I’ve got a new handle just waiting for a cutting board. Thanks man.

                No worries Nickypoo!

I meant to include a pic of what I’ve been doing on my new gates for whoever is building their own.
I got several sheets of 1’ X 1’ 10mm thick EVA foam that has sticky backing off eBay and am affixing it to the inside of the suck gate to make it float. It’s kinda hard to see being black on black.
Works awesome as you don’t need a tether to a floaty anymore.
                Cheers!

Very clever on the “floats”. I’ve been trying to figure out a new design that floats.

This was my rev 2 model. Its the aluminum handle, painted steel brackets and a cutting board (of course). Angle is 13 degrees. I keep wanting to build a new one that floats but that HDPE is hard to find in Canada for a good price. I guess it all goes to hockey rinks....

Plexi works awesome too, Heavier but runs good.

If you guys have a welder it’s so simple to weld a plate onto the handle, like crazy simple.

Those are sweet! Very nice. I didn’t get mine together last night (the best laid plans...) but, I’m gonna grab my buddy’s which is much more what I had in mind for my next one and do some testing with it next week.

I don’t at the moment as I’ve been running taps 3 for a couple years.
