Engine kills when shifting in gear

Went out for second day engine shutdown for no apparent reason
Restarted, engine kills when I Put in gear any thoughts on this?

Check the boat out of the water. Is the prop spinning when at idle?
Does the prop spin at all when you shift it into gear, before the engine dies?

prop wont spin out of water in neutral

should say tried turning by hand out of water wont budge.
