    2018 R22

Has anyone ridden in the new R22? I'm thinking of upgrading this weekend for what I think is a good deal.

I will venture an opinion, and we know what those are like.

As you may, or may not know the R22 hull is the same as an RZ2 hull. Ive had a VX equipped RZ2 out before and ran a shaper on it and was plenty happy with the wave on both sides. Havent been in a TAPS3 equipped RZ2 but if I had to guess it is great.
With the M tower, 7" screen, and Taps3 I don't think you could really lose out. My only real complaint with the RZ2 is how low the bow rides up front, especially with a bit of ballast and a couple adults chilling in the bow. I have taken a roller over the front, but in all fairness its because I was talking to a rider in the water during a turnaround and wasn't paying attention to the water in front of me. Its just something to be aware of, or you may end up testing your auto bilge function

Thanks for your reply. We have a 2007 MC X30 and it will do the same if going into a roller.

NAstleford is a forum member here and has an 17 RZ2. I know him and his family surf a lot as I see their boat at our local lake quite a bit. He may chime in or you could try shooting him PM here on the forum and get some review from a guy that rolls the 22' hull with TAPS3.

If you end up pulling the trigger post pics !

            We love our boat.
Yes, have taken some water over the bow when either got some ballast filled and/or with few kids up there. Just have to make sure either turn and take saves on the side or drive into them.
I think we have a great wave on both sides ( I’m the token goofy rider) but honestly haven’t ridden behind any other Tigés to compare. Have yet to wakeboard behind it yet as didn’t get any good water the days actually took the wakeboard so can’t speak to how that is.
Main reason we went with the RZ2 is because of the wide bow and longest boat that would fit in our garage. Kids love having the bow to themselves so had to make sure had room for them.

If it were me I would check out the r23 as the price is very similar and the wave is stellar with more of a modern hull.

Thanks for the info! Out of curiosity, how big is your garage door? I’m hoping mine will be big enough.

Clearance is 9' 9" wide & 11' 1" tall. Garage is 24' 9" deep from back wall to the door. There is room (inches) from the swim deck to the wall and few more from the nose to the door when closed. Just about enough to squeeze thru to get to the other side.

Here's the bow with 5 kids and technically could still fit a couple more.

Congrats! Did you get the R22 with the aft subfloor ballast and the PNP?

I wish I would have. The fat sacs take up quite a bit of storage but we still love it!
