How do I know throttle linkage assy is in neutral

How do I know or set the throttle assy to neutral before I put the handle back on the teeth? I had taps issue and when troubleshooting I pulled the handle off when it was not in neutral. I've had handle off a few days and didn't think about it. Now I want to put handle back on the splines but not sure where to find neutral? Or does the throttle assy care where neutral is and just put the handle back? It seems like it does not have stops both directions so I can't just find center. Boat is a 2011 RZ2.

Good news is I fixed my taps switch.

If everything is function correctly you should be able to hold your key in "crank" position and boat won't turn over as it's in gear. Hold key in crank and move splines until it cranks. Let go of key, key off if it fires.

That will be neutral as the neutral safety switch closed.

Go to the transmission and move the lever to neutral.
