        I go NOWHERE without rear tie downs (especially the way I drive)because I am so afraid of THAT! Hope his insurance is up to date!:-)
        We had a heated tie down discussion earlier in the year.
        I don't remember that discussion..... why do you need tie downs?..... and I highly doubt that this is the case in this photo

          Do a search, if I remember, there were a couple of good examples (pics) of why you need to put tie-downs on the transom. I don't care how heavy a boat is, It can!!!!! come off in a panic stop, wreck, abrupt maneuver.

          Piece of mind guys.

            I attach tie downs whenever I make long trips. If I am just cruising down the street to get gas or tow the boat home I dont attach tie downs.

            Its like chpthril said, "piece of mind".

                    It would be nice if Tige attached tie downs with the trailer like my friends have on there Malibu. I've towed plenty w/o the tie downs but I will rethink that and go get some. Is there any special "rating" w/ tiedowns or will simple motorcycle tiedowns work?

                      Do not use motorcycle tie downs, the will loosen and become useless. Use a transom tie down for boats only, like these on the top of the page;

                      I got these at Walmart for $15 just the other day along with a new winch strap for $7.

                        Here is the link of the prior post discussing the trailer tie-downs.

                        The link starts on the topic on page 3.

                          I have a product called boat buckles. They bolt to the trailer and are retractable. It is just part of the routine, pull the plug buckle the trailer.

                              If ya want to save a few bucks Rod Savers Marine Products has the same thing and Walmart had those for $45. My brother-in-law uses these and they work great.
