I hear ya. I have been to the lake close to a dozen trips and haven't even been in the water. Just fix boats and leave. A few boats I have just strapped down to trailer and not even left the ramp. Between service and sales it's a busy year.
Hoping to get a set in Monday night. Hopefully you've been getting some wiggles in behind the boat.

Surf Demo Mode for TAPS 3 and testing actuators?

thanks for all your help guys. my 2016 r20 taps 3 port side actuator finally went RIP. this thread was really helpful in troubleshooting the problem.

Is there any calibration required once a new actuator is put in? how does the computer know if the actuator is fully up or down?

Just install the new actuator. Just make sure you don't switch up the black and white wires or TAPS3 settings would be reversed at screen (10 would be max deployment and 1 would be least).

The computer doesn't really know where the actuator is in real time. There is no sender in the actuator. It simply moves based on timed current events. That's why everything can say it's deployed at the screen but it's not actually happening at the transom.

              thanks

i decided to take all 3 actuators apart after finding the dead actuator to be full of water.

              - port was full of water
              - starboard had significant moisture in it, but no standing water
              -center was perfectly dry

i dried and lubed everything up and reinstalled. the dead actuator did come back to life and works well in demo mode. we will see if it works in the water.

my tige r20 is a 2016 with 200 hrs on it.

do these lenco actuators only last 2 yrs?

Drying and lubing them will make no diff. If the actuator had got water in it and stopped working or had water in it at all then its a seal going bad. No way change the outcome their other then replacing the actuator. You cant save one unless you rebuild it and its just not worth it...

x2, +1, thumbs up, etc. You can get them working but they don't perform as well. Even after you get them moving again they dont perform well in the water under load (ballast filled in the water while trying to surf). They will deploy but typically nowhere near the 2 1/4" stroke length of their potential.

Their were some recalls, Lenco had a bad run of actuators with a new seal.

                      It’s a warranty item.

Take it in and they will fix it.

Most likely it is a bad actuator.

Time for me to start sharing some information/knowledge.

Let me help you out on something first though. Update your software to this version. It will improve the functionality of the 2015-2016 versions with Taps 3. This file is only for the '15-16 models. This is my personal dropbox so TigeOwners, please don't repost this anywhere. This is not a link from the factory.
                        https://www.dropbox.com/s/lqx2qgxjfr...17.tar.gz?dl=0

Please download this file. It needs to say “update-full_Tige_HV700T_2710553_10182017.tar.gz” as the file name. If it has “()” near the end with a number, it will not install. It needs to say exactly update-full_Tige_HV700T_2710553_10182017.tar.gz

Download the file from the link above.

                        • Put the file on a USB thumb drive.
                        • Plug the drive into the USB port under the dash at the cable from the touch screen.
                        • Turn battery switch off then back on.
                        • Hold the “up” arrow button on the left side of the screen and do not release.
                        • Press the power button (blue button on the dash)
                        • After 5 to 10 seconds let go of the “up” arrow button
                        • It will boot to the update screen. Use the buttons on the right to pick the correct software. (touch functions will not work at this time)
                        • Use the third button down to select.
                        • System will install the updated and reboot. This takes about 3 minutes.

Go to dealer settings. It is located under "switches" then "system settings" at the bottom of the screen. Touch "dealer" and the code is 9191. Double check you options on that page. Things like heater, underwater light and taps 3. Be sure all of your options on your boat are "enabled".

You will see white text on the upper right that says "surf demo". Touch that text and it will bring up demo mode.
Select "= Surf" and set both sides to 4. This will allow you to switch back and forth and test the actuators. Taps on 1 will make them go full stroke. Measure both sides and see if one side sits shorter than the other.

I still think you have a bad actuator though.

*added the detail that this version is for Taps 3 boats. Has not be tested on AVX models.

Can someone post the software update file again? The link above doesn't work.

I'm having issues with my starboard taps 3 actuator. I would like to test my taps 3 out of the water. Thanks.

What year and touch screen do you have?

I have an update for 2016 RZX with the 7” screen. I’m pretty sure it’s good for all boats with that screen, I just want to make sure it’s right before I share with you. If you send me your email, I can forward the update and instructions for loading it.

                            2016 R22. I think I have the smaller touchscreen.

I think that’s the 4.3” screen, which is the only one I don’t have an update for. I have the 7” and 10”, but I’m not even positive the 10” I have is the most current update. I think the 7” is.

I can send it to you, but I was told the 10” would wreak havoc on my 7”, so I wouldn’t try it without knowing that it’s correct. I don’t even know if the procedure is the same.

Someone on here will know, and likely someone has it. Maybe pick up the phone and call Tige customer service, they’re usually pretty helpful. Guessing they’d email it to you. I haven’t seen KoolAid around in awhile, guessing he’s buried in this boat market insanity.
