cdomby, Don't forgot about the classic list, or weight it up and slap a shaper on it. At least gets you surfing for the weekend until the rest gets sorted....

Surf Demo Mode for TAPS 3 and testing actuators?

"The Taps 3 plates do not move until you get close to surf speed. Were you at surf speed when checking?"
No, we were just sitting idle. Thought they would respond like the center plate does, while idle. Sounds like getting into surf mode and following instructions is the right test!
"I would suggest getting you an actuator just in case. That is the correct unit from Amazon. Better to have one on the shelf and not need it than to not have one and need it."
Kool Aid, I'm going to pick one up. Thanks for confirming it's the right part
Freewheel: Thanks for the suggestion to get us through the weekend. I had the list at 4-5 and the rise at 8. It does produce a surfable wave (which I rode), so all isn't lost if I can't get taps 3 to work!

Koolaid is usually spot on but I think this is your guy

The one I opened in your link has a plastic end with a single eye on it that is on older Tiges with Lenco center tabs. If you ordered the one you first posted you most likely would have to cut different bushings to keep the rod end of the actuator from moving side to side where it mounts at the plate. The XD above should allow you to use the bushings and keep it centered. I could be wrong though, have been before and will be again.

These are all the different versions of plate mounts to actuator. The 18s with angled actuators have same width but swivel. They are all approx 2" wide. The plastic tipped actuator end will probably work, I would just be worried about it sliding side to side on its 5/16 bolt. May not be an issue though...

Went up to the boat again today and put it on the rack at my marina. Ding Ding Ding! Freewheel and Koolaid, can't thank you enough. Demo surf mode with speed "=" worked like a charm to test TAPS 3 when the boat is out of the water. Both left and right worked, but goofy ("surf right" on the screen) was stuck. As Koolaid indicated, the goofy actuator or "surf right" actuator is hosed. Note to others: surf right on the screen moves the left actuator on the back of the boat. I unstuck it by switching back and forth between left and right and changing taps 3 settings up and down but it now never fully extends OR contracts. It now extends to about 3/4 of the way of the "surf left" actuator. Guess it needs replacement. It looks to be really easy to replace. It's a little under $200 for the new one.
Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity and for saving me $$$$ taking it to the dealer over an hour away.Last edited by cdomby; 05-26-2018, 11:45 AM.

cdomby, Did some measuring and I am 99.99% sure it is the XDS after all. Overall length is less than 11 inches, and using the stamped code on their chart I arrive at a P/N of 15057-001

No, I dont think I have ever even been over there. Just been slammed getting some new stuff going. Its consuming all of my time unfortunately lots and lots of loose ends not to mention the fact that its just that time of year. Hopefully ill have some more free time in the coming months to be more involved.Germaine Marine
