Battery issue and installing a dual bank charger

I had my batteries on a pro sport dual bank battery charger all winter in my basement. I put them back in the boat a couple weeks ago. I noticed my stereo wasn't working correctly (only sound coming from front speakers and not very good) it does this when my house battery is low. So i went to put the charger back on the batteries last night and noticed my cranking was a little wet on top near wear the caps are. Is this a sign of a bad battery? Should i fill the battery up with something? I'm assuming this shouldn't have anything to do with my stereo problems? I went ahead and put on the charger and it showed it was charging. I haven't ran the boat at all. Just started a couple times to make sure it was running ok. Not sure why my batteries would be low. (batteries are interstate marine - one cranking and one deep cycle. this would be their 4th summer)

Another topic - where do people mount these chargers in the boat? Does anyone have any pictures of their install? I saw someone mentioned running the plug into one of the activity centers. I don't like the idea of drilling a hole big enough to fit the end of the plug through.

I would check the water lever in each cell. Should be above the plates but not up to the inside edge of the plastic case. Best to check when battery is fully charged as the level expands. If the battery is undercharged and the water level is above the plates, leave it for now and charge.

Next, you need to check voltage at the batteries to determine their state of charge. Then check at the amp(s).

Use a charge outlet rather then leaving the hole

Thanks for the quick reply! I will take the batteries back out tonight and check the levels.

Has anyone installed a charger? Looking for ideas on where to mount it.

I have 4 AGM batteries for the stereo and 1 standard battery for the crank. I two NOCO chargers to get the juice to all the batteries. 1x 1 bank and 1x 4 bank. Mounted all of them directly to the engine divider wall. Worked just fine. Now I’m moving the batteries to the amp area. So the chargers will get moved too. I started with a Promariner charger back when I only had two batteries. That was mounted to the back of the access panel to the batteries. That solution worked pretty well. I personally like the NOCOs. But both are are great. The NOCOs are completely waterproof which really helps for that location. I’ll see if I can find some pics.

Beings they are on their 4th year they may very well need replaced. Any parts store will test them for free and recommend replacement or let you know if they just need a good reconditioning/charge. Napa, oreilly, etc down there at LOTO can test them for free.
