Do you trailer with your tower up or down?

We bought a 2015 RZR last fall, and are wondering if you tow your boats with your tower up or down? It does not appear that we have any kind of locking mechanism to keep things held tight in the down position as some other boats have. We towed it a couple times last fall, and the tower got blasted with bugs. PITA to clean up after every trip. Am I missing a lock mechanism to tow in the down position? I don't feel comfortable towing with it bouncing up and down with the tension on the internal cables. Thanks for any responses.

I've always towed with he tower up on my Alpha Z equipped 15 RZ4. I pretty much had the same thoughts as you did. Especially with the weight of 4 Rev 10s up there. Add in that I've had problems with my alphas z tower in the past (bottoms replaced). I'm going to move it around as little as possible. If it is something that's really bugging you. I would consider an over the tower cover.

That's what i am thinking. I even thought about building a support that would hold it in place in the lowered position, but am still unsure of stress/stretch put on the cables that help raise it back up.

The springs have a ton of tension in them. Ive seen one mount where the eye ends of the springs attach break the weld. Resetting the spring on the new bracket was scary and required a lot of pulling power and the sketchy factor was high. Others have good luck with Saran wrapping tower. Remove plastic on arrival and no bugs. I use pre-wrap, which is a lo tack heat shrink product. You could look into buying a roll of it if you wanted to ge that route. If you cant find anyone that will sell it direct send me a PM.

They come from the factory with a plate put in to hold the tower in the down position. But that means your racks need to be folded out and it’s not the easiest to install.

We have always towed with the tower up: Both our R20 and our I/O previously.

Being aware that low awnings in parking lots need to be anticipated.

Little waterspot remover and we’re good to go.

We store tower down in garage. Should we brace it?

You could just have a boot made for the tower just like the one that covers the bimini. Any canvas shop could make one easily.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Alpha Z should be up. Bugs in transit are just a cost of doing business.
